I've been hearing all this talk of these new Forerunner enemies in Halo 4 like Prometheans, Warriors (I think?) and a couple others. I'm just wondering where we got that information from.. Is it from one of the books? If so, which one? I don't recall hearing about them in any Halo 4 information article.

Warrior Forerunners.

Prometheans are the highest class of "Warrior-Servants" in the Forunner ecumene. Do note that what Master Chief faced in the E3 game demo were Promethean constructs, and not Forunner-Prometheans themselves.

Prometheans were first introduced by Isaac Hannaford in a concept art sketch for Bungie's planned Halo 4 before they decided to go with Reach, they were then fully introduced in Greg Bear's novel Halo: Cryptum. They are the highest form a Forerunner Warrior-Servant can mutate to, they're typically about 12-16 feet tall and have weapons capable of eradicating entire continents. The Knight, Crawler and Watcher are AIs created by the Prometheans as a defense mechanism. [Edited on 06.09.2012 8:05 AM PDT]

I think the Prometheans are the Forerunners military robots. [Edited on 06.09.2012 8:00 AM PDT]

The Halo 4 website lists them as Prometheans. No we have never seen them in the books, but there was a Forerunner Warrior class titled Promethean which the Didact (that voice in the trailer) held.
Posted by: Meteor doggy Prometheans are from the Forerunner trilogy of books by Greg Bear. They're essentially warrior A.I. and most certainly came from the large, orange trimmed ball in the E3 demo.
The Prometheans warrior caste were not AI, these creatures seem to be, or at least cyborgs. They are from Halo Cryptum. This answers your question: http://www.halopedian.com/Promethean But the Halo 4 prometheans aren't like the real organic ones.
