What does it stand for and where did they get it?
I was reading a Stephen King book(The Dark Towers III) and the 6th(maybe 4) chapter had a picture that looks almost exactly the same.
I am trying to find a link.
Posted by: dmbfan09 I looked through my copy of The Waste Lands to find the image you described, and it was shown at the beginning Chapter 5: Bridge and City. After some searching, I found it here. Anyway, maybe somebody was a FiSTer?
And I took a look at mine too, it looks similar, but it only has one lightning bolt instead of bungie's 2. Could have been inspired by it though... Idk which predated which. [Edited on 09.14.2011 7:13 PM PDT]

I have no clue but it's one of my favorite symbols of all time.

They said in "O Brave New World" that it was just something that looked cool to put on a flag. Simple as that.

I always thought it looked very similiar to that statue outside Gadaffi's compound of the fist with the plane in its grip. Guess it symbolizes might more than anything.

it a sign of power

I can't remember where, but I once read that back in the early days, some place Achronos used to spend time (I think it was a library, or university - something like that) has a statue which has a fist holding lightning bolts, in a manner very similar to the one in the banner. It was theorised that this served as inspiration. But my memory is pretty hazy.

I thought it represented the power of Zeus on the Olimpus? Like Bungie the best of the Game developers industry? [Edited on 09.14.2011 12:29 PM PDT]

I guess we'll have to wait for an employee to answer your question :|

I honestly would not be the least bit surprised if they worked with an electric company.

I guess I'm the only one that thought of Bungie working with The Electric Company and decided how awesome that could have been. A friend of mine believes that the name Bungie comes from Pangea and their ultimate objective to rule the world; therefore the world will be united as the Pangea from a long time ago, but this time under the order of Bungie.
-
Bungie believes they are powerful enough to capture lightning with their bare hands. In all seriousness, I have no idea what it stands for; never thought of looking it up. :)
