Can Crimson take down Angry Birds?
We all know that Angry Birds is probably the greatest game to ever grace mobile gaming. It ranks just behind the fart app and that app that costs $10,000 on the list of greatest apps ever created. There is something so primal about launching birds into pigs.
It probably reaches back to our days as cavemen. I mean, back then it was cool to have a bird, but what good is a tiny little blue bird going to do when you have all the cave women flocking to you because you invented fire. They want to have you cave babies, but it's not going to happen with a little avian creature. So what did our ancestors do? They launched those tiny birds at pigs. It was then they that were able to harness the delicious pork products. And that's how bacon was invented.
So for crimson to be effective at all, it needs to be able to break the hold that angry birds has on the market. It needs to beat the game which tells the story of our ancestors inventing bacon so they could make sweet cave love to the cave women all night and populate the world.
So Crimson needs two things. Food and women. Those are the two most basic needs of life. We need food and we need to reproduce. Crimson must include a food greater than bacon. It will be a hard task, but I think we can do it. My personal suggestion would be [url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YsE8j6OioQ]deep fried butter[/url], but we can decide that later.
Secondly we need women. Lots and lots of women. Bungie, if you're listening, I would place a call to [url=http://www.mtv.com/movies/photos/p/pirates_caribbean2_060627/flip-.jpg]Keira Knightley's[/url] agent. She is definitely a 10 and she knows how to play the pirate roll. Johnny Depp in a bikini might also be a little bit of a turn on. But definition some pirates with some skin showing would be clutch.
Angry Birds set the precedent. They built a best selling game by telling the tale of our ancestors getting women with bacon. Now Crimson needs to not just follow the blueprint, but follow the blueprint x10. We need MORE delicious foods and MORE women. That's the key. Hopefully Bungie knows what they're doing.

Been 4 months ... crimson has not '[i]taken down Angry Birds[/i]'. You can keep wishing, but the bungie name doesnt attract the same attention it once did.

Angry Birds is too simple. That's what the masses want, simplicity. [i]Crimson[/i] isn't going to take down anything.

One can only hope. Although, I'd like to say I think it's better. It might be because angry birds is fun for anyone and heavily advertised.

Crimson will most definitely dominate Angry Birds. Although, I am a little skeptical. Angry Birds is extremely easy to understand, and Crimson is somewhat complicated. But once you understand the nature of the beast, you gather a lot more enjoyability from Crimson.

Why (even after being able to afford an iPhone/iPad) do you compare the quality of games based on price?!?! Angry Birds is MILES ahead of CSB, even the way it is used as a '[i]must have[/i]' game on mobile phone adds. Even the friggin xbox has an Angry Birds clone.

Each subsequent game could easily be set in a time periord after the current one in the game.

This game is great, and the developers are definately creative. If I may suggest something though, create another game or an expansion pack where it is set in space. Since the developpers like to use technology that is completely bs in the 1700-1800s, setting it in space and calling it something like crimson: star pirates and making a game on that sounds sick.

If people would hold off spending $0.99, and take the opinion off a bunch of strangers ... how will HBS ever reitre rich and famous? Like any game the degree of "[i]fun[/i]" depends on the player. I would gibe Angry Birds a 9/10, whilst CSP would get a 4/5. But none of this is due to the game itself, but the way I play mobile games with friends ... more turn based which AB is more suited for. Same goes for that one where you land the planes ... its just fun to play with a friend, short turns and an easy objective.

Can a [url=http://www.andymoore.ca/category/gamedesign/steambirds/]games copied from the works of others[/url] take down an original fun game that itself has spawned dozens of copies? Not a chance. Mention both names to anyone in iCulture and you get a resounding "[i]what game??[/i]" for CSP (unless they own a halo disk as well) ... but everyone knows of Angey Birds. Its as about as well known as bungies next game - lol.

Unfortunately, I have not yet done anything with Crimson. I recently sold my iPhone and bought a Galaxy SII. Can't wait for it to come out on the Android platform!
