Why doesn't Batman use a sword?

I'm sure there are a ton of comic book junkies who will tear me to shreds for asking this, but between the movies and the comics/graphic novels, I couldn't figure out why Batman never kept his sword. I mean think about it; in Batman Begins Bruce trained and trained with the sword, and then never adopted it into his bat gear. And as far as the comics/graphic novels went, I only once saw Batman duel Ra's with swords. Anyone...?

 •
Posted by: Douglas Brown Why does everyone seem to be under the impression that swords imply ninjas and ninjas imply mortallity? Its the wish to not kill.
Well it might be a new trend, but more and more these days people are looking at ninjas as the epitome of coolness. I guess it is just unfortunate that many people make the connection between swords and ninjas... But yeah, now that I think about it, it really wouldn't make much sense for Batman to have a sword... Especially considering that he makes an effort not to kill his foes. Btw, Robin doing Sebukku = awesome ;)

Try and keep from pissing yourself as you awake to a knight of darkness standing over your bed, sword drawn
Ninja's are still mortal, and they will grow weak and die in time. Like Batman said in the movie, "As a man I can be ignored, weakened, killed. But as a symbol..." and then my memory blanks, but none the less. I ninja is nothing more than a skilled man and have the flaws that come with being so.
Ya the thought *pshh, this guy is just a mortal* is really going to pass through your mind in this situation. • In one "Batman: Elseworlds" Annual, it was totally medevil times, Batman was a samurai, and he totally had a katana. Unfortunatly, at the begining of the comic he died. Fortunatly, at the end, Robin comitted seppuku. It was an okay comic. In answer to your question, truthfully, it's too dangerous. He vowded never to kill a person, and sword just might do that. In answer to your question, in my words, he's too -blam!- awesome for that.
