The Scoop on Halo 4 - New Information

I've traveled far and wide to bring you some insights on Halo 4. Here's the deal, do not ask where the info came from I cannot reveal it, do not ask for proof cause I cannot give it. If you don't believe me I completely understand, as long as you realize that any requests for a source are wasting your time. If you don't want to take my word on this that's cool, it doesn't bother me if you don't believe me. This is a bunch of info taken from a pretty secret media blast that's been doing the rounds and is under embargo until the Halo celebration event. This document is for media outlets and they'll no doubt be publishing these details later in August during the event. This is not an exact copy of the document but a paraphrased version from a journalist. "Halo 4 returns players to the story of the Master Chief and Cortana in the events that follow the conclusion of Halo 3. Players will experience an all new story and introduce a new roster of enemies and weapons to the Halo experience. Set against the top secret Forerunner planetoid known to ONI as Sigma 7, players will encounter a dark new foe and unravel more of the mysteries behind the forerunners and the Office of Naval Intelligence. At the heart of Halo 4 is a stronger focus than ever before behind story telling and player choice. Players will be offered an unprecedented level of customization and a narrative experience never before seen in a first person shooter. On a technical level Halo 4 pushes the boundaries of the action genre by incorporating larger battlefields than ever before and players will experience conflicts that seamlessly span land, sea and space. Halo 4 will expand the series trademark arsenal of weapons and vehicles beyond any other title so far. Players can expect fan favorites to return along with new additions. Halo 4 will also feature the revolutionary new Arsenal Improvisation Mechanics that allow for menu-free, creative customization of weapons and vehicles in the heat of combat. Players will take their fight to a new level by dynamically tailoring their weapons and vehicles to suit any situations or enemies." At the moment it seems 343 are focusing on the new and improved story and weapons system (of which the new AIM mechanic is only mysteriously alluded to) but there was some video shown that fills in some of the gaps. Halo 4 is set on a Forerunner planet that has an inner and outer surface that provides two distinct styles. The outside is very industrial and features a wide range of hostile Forerunner tech and AI. The video showed space combat here. The inside of the planetoid is hollow and is sectioned off in to many tiers/bands (almost resembling Halo rings) that feature a myriad of natural environments not only resembling earth's but many other alien terrains. The video featured combat across a multitude of environments from space to mountains, plains and oceans. Presumably, ONI had been top secretly researching the planet for some. There are UNSC forces on the planet but they look really degraded and disorganized and it was implied that they may be divided into factions and warring with each other. At one point we see a heavily modified warthog that has had the wheels replaced two kind of anti gravity devices. At another point the Chief is clearly sprinting which possibly implies a return of armor abilities. There was no sign of the Flood or the Covenant but at the very end of the trailer the 'dark new threat' was hinted at. The video ends with the Chief standing at a dark cave entrance and from within can be heard some menacing gurgling and grunting. Cortana says "They're coming back ... and there's a LOT more of them this time", the Master chief then readies a new weapon that looks like a cross between a rocket launcher and a Needler and it focuses on his helmet and visor and a number of strange digital effects ripple across his visor then the videos ends. Anyway, say what you want, fake or real, it doesn't bother me, I know it's very reliable. Feel free to comment or speculate but please keep it clean. Cheers - Shadow

Halo's universe is too vast for human literature/forms of entertainment :/ Hell you can even make a game about Jackals and it will still be interesting. There's a story to almost everything
This is True, The covenant is done with but theres still more out there Brutes have gone wild, savage and are raiding the universe now the covenant is broken, fighting a long war with the sanghelli And of course, we have the mystery of the Precursors, and as i said earlier, The forerunners, if their still around, arnt gonna take too kindly to Humanity

 •
Posted by: noochobrazzi11 I dont understand why they are making this game. I love Halo and have played it during times when all my friends were playing COD, but HALO4 makes no sense. First off: the triligy is over and all aliens/flood were neutralized by the firing of halo in HALO3, so there's no way to have a campaign OR firefight. Second: all of Bungie's multiplayer ideas were put into HALO-REACH. The only thing i can think of that'll make this game usefull is to make an ever bigger forge world, or multiple forge worlds, with more items and money to use and some new gametypes, like a Zombies gametype just like in COD. Whatever they do, I hope this game isn't just Microsoft just wants more money or has no more ideas.
Oh young one, you have much to learn. There is (of course) far more story past the trilogy, and there are far worse things in the universe than the Flood and the Covenant.

 • I've had 2 major theories for this that play into eachother Firstly, the Planetoid thing is the Dyson sphere that Onyx lead to / contained, meaning there would be an explanation to any variaty of human weapons inside the Forerunner Device, as there's a small legion of SIII's there Now for storytelling, Only the minority of these fans will have read Ghost's of Onyx, so to introduce a legion of random, unknown spartans wouldn't appeal to them, so Jun has to be amongst them to appeal to reach fans Futhermore, Enemies - As this structure is a shield world, Its likely Forerunners could still be alive inside, but of course according to Halo: Cryptum, Forerunners wern't too pleased with human technological development thosands of years ago, so to be living in solitude to encounter a legion of humans, Armed to the teeth to become living Weapons They're not gonna be too Pleased Thoughts?

 • I really hope (if it's real) that when they say a big battlefield, they MEAN it. The promise of a big one in Tip of the Spear was bull-blam!-. Halo 2's Quarantine Zone was the biggest in-game. I remember hearing Bungie saying: In Reach you'll find yourself fighting in a battle with 40 AI and 20 vehicles at the same time! Nowhere to be found...

You're the real BS artist. I am very very forthcoming that I will not give up my source, you are out right lying about yours.

 •
Posted by: Fatgezzer724 "They're coming back ... and there's a LOT more of them this time" It could be 3 things. Covenant. Flood. Forerunners. By the use of "They're coming back" it leads me to assume that they were gone. Well the Covenant wern't all killed were they? They just disbanded after truth was killed. The flood? It could be, they supposedly killed them all. But in Halo Wars theres a flood controlled shield world. Maybe they survived? Forerunners? They were gone. The story is on a forerunner planet, so maybe. Forerunners may have secretly used shield worlds to survive when they set of Halo. Whatever this "Dark new enemy" is, it better have a good story. Halo 3 was entitled Finish the Fight for a good reason.
In Halo 3 Gravemind said that the flood would not be stopped, that the events would only slow them. So you can be assured that the flood are back, especially if it's a shield world.

 • People are taking this way too seriously. I've already seen some people talking about the plot of Halo 4 using that "leak" as a reliable source when it in fact, is as reliable as me saying that I met a journalist yesterday who told me he had been showed a new trailer of Halo 4 which he had recorded and asked me do I want copy of it. At least OP could kindly say that the information shouldn't be used as a reliable source. P.S. About that jurnalist: I said no. I didn't want to get spolied.

 • It sounds alot like Crysis. Im hoping that the multiplayer will at least be a true classic experience with the reduction of AAs and what sounds like CoD like mechanics. I hope 343 doesnt get caught up in the money like Bungie and try an re-invent Halo once again with the introduction of ADS and customizable weapons. Hoping this is fake to be honest, well some of it.

 • I hope you're right @Monitor117. This is a great time to be a Halo fan. I remember the Halo 3 marketing in 2007 -- it was so huge and epic. My favorite part was not only the live action "Starry Night" commercial but also the Believe ads: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=halo+3+believe&aq=f I enjoyed Reach's marketing too, and the live action trailer, but because it was a darker game, it didn't have the fun summer feeling that the Halo 3 cover gives you. Really hoping they can tap into that again. I have a feeling this will be true, and hopefully that just means they'll push up the Halo 4 info reveal and give us something special at Halo Fest. Anyone going to that?

 •
Posted by: Buggy Virus Seems believable, it may as well be. Doesn't tell us very much information, we already knew the planet would most likely be forerunner as only the core Halo fans know anything about precursors. Stupid customization in every game annoys me.
What's wrong with choice?

 • Bungie had a history of saying certain details were not true and then we come to find out that the details were in fact true and they just wanted us to find out for ourselves, its a great marketing strat, they get us all hyped up to buy the game making us thing "WTF IS THE TRUTH IF NONE OF THESE IDEAS WE'VE COME UP WITH ARENT TRUE!!!!" Think about it.. he JUST came out of a silent dark on and then decides to go on HBO? HBO?? out of anything he uses a paid broadcasting channel like HBO...He purposely wanted us to lose hope in this story that is obviously true. Maybe the LEAK it's self was BS and the story was true. I mean if you get EVERY clue that bungie gave to use through both the marathon and halo trilogies (im not implying they are connected so don't comment on that) you can actually tell what's going to happen in future games. Before Halo 3 there were clues of the "ark" and of where it was. The truth of it being in africa was "leaked". Think about it..

 •
Posted by: Distractulator I dont understand why everybody thinks the Forerunners went poof, yeah it says that they activated Halo to starve the flood. It also says that they left a small percent of each species on a shield world to protect the species from extinction...Exactly my point. The Forerunners may have left a few of themselves on a shield world, then activated the Halo's. AKA Meaning the Forerunners might still live!
If I'm not mistaken... I think some Forerunners left the galaxy to go on "The Great Journy". I'm 95% sure on that, so yea I don't think they all died either. Also Guilty Spark in Halo 2 didn't say they ALL died. Just the ones that were within the range of the Halo's activation.

 • I believe that it is likely that we will meet Dr. Halsey again (most likely in the shield world). She was a major character in Halo Reach which was the most recently released Halo title, and as not much is known to the players of that game of her fate, it would make sense that she makes a surprise reappearance in another Halo game. Writer's usually bring back characters who we do not know much about.

Frankie could just be doing damage control. Halo's never been immune to leaks, so who knows... It would make sense we would get leaks now as they're probably preparing for a big magazine reveal and trying to set up the beta now. [Edited on 06.11.2011 8:46 PM PDT]
