Halo References in Thor Movie?

I dont want to sound like anyone complaining about the Reach/Avatar helicopter similarities, I'm purely putting forward an early idea here: The character Heimdall, from Thor (The black guy) bears some resemblances to the Elite Honour Guard, both posession of a spear (Weak similarity), and the curved "horns" on the top of their helmets like scimitars (Medium-Strong similarity). Links for comparitive purposes: Heimdall From Thor Film Elite Honour Guard Not saying there's evena 10% chance of correlation, but given that Halo has had references to Norse mythology throughout the series (Gungnir, Mjolnir, etc) I think it is at least worth a mention to see if anyone can shed some light on the subject. All opinions welcome! [Edited on 05.16.2011 9:36 AM PDT]

 • Okay... I don't know if anyone still looks at this thread, but I found what seems to be a very strong reference to Halo. The white tunnels around the hammer's crash site in the trailer (Right at the beginning (Here) looked suspiciously "symbol like", and I thought they were just making it look like some sort of Norse symbol, but I couldn't find any matching it until I checked the covenant glyphs: It bears some similarity to the blue one in this picture (4 down, 2 across), but it is almost exactly the same as the Halo 3 plasma grenade symbol (Here) It is not a perfect resemblance, and it's actually a mirror image of what I'm suggesting it is, but that tunnel shape is too strange not to be a reference to something, be it Norse or Halo. Wikipedia suggests the grenade symbol is similar to the mark of shame, and although I can't see the see the similarity, it would be an amazing reference considering Thor had been cast out, and the Hammer was placed there to taunt him! • Dude. There is a -blam!- load of refernces to the old norse gods in Halo. Although the Marvel design of Asgardian armour (the helmets atleast) has been around for a while, I would not be surprised if Marvel took a little bit of inspiration from Halo. [Edited on 05.16.2011 9:38 AM PDT]

 • Most of the characters have curved horns on their helmet, but it was this particular style redesigned from comics and paintings for the Thor film that caught my attention. On a side note, when I first saw the trailer, the Halo reference I thought of was not of the Halo 2 Honour Guard Elites, but of the Halo 3 Brute War Chieftan (Mainly due to the colour gold). • Halo references Norse and Greek mythology as well as holy crusade reference with the covenant. Even the number 7 is a univerally reguarded number.

 • Halo's taken a bunch of ideas from other things. Not saying it's bad, cause they're all pretty cool, but that helmet's been there for centuries...it's basically a coincidence that this particular helmet was used in the movie and looks like Honor Guard helmets.
