Why do they call spartans cyborgs in Halo: CE?

It's in one of the adjustments to the kill limit on Slayer Game Variants. (Yes, I've played the game so much that I remember that off the top of my head.) There are also multiple sequences in the game where MC is called a cyborg. Most famous of these is by the Grunts: "Bad cyborg!" which is where the website of the same name got its name from. It was originally planned to make Spartans Cyborg instead of just augmented soldiers in awesome armor as seen in [url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpXVArrf-W0]E3 2000 Trailer[/url] where the MC clearly has a robotic voice. The whole cyborg label came from the instruction manual actually, the "story so far" (or whatever) section painted the picture of MC being a cyborg and the last of his kind.
