Growing up too fast.
I live in the U.K. I am 18. I'm an adult.
There, I said it. Its time I faced up to that fact. In many ways, I want to be a kid again. That carefree attitude, very litle REAL responsibility, everything done for you, pocket money, living in your house for free, etc. My life as a child has flashed by.... It has been so much fun. I have experienced a lot of things, some cool some not so cool. But i wouldn't have changed any of it. All of my experiences have shaped me into the well rounded person I am today.... And now its time to move on. To say goodbye to childhood, and to move on.
Does anyone else feel the same, anyone who is my age obviously. I particuarly want to hear an American persons opinion on 'officially' becoming an adult.

I'm 14 soon to be 15, and letting things take their course. The only thing that really worries me about growing up is school and finding a great paying job that I'll enjoy. After that, I think I'm set.

I'm a kid and have a job at a lemondae stand and I mow lawns and it's not hard but I think you realize your an adult when you buy yourself laundry detergent

you know what the worst part of moving out on my own was? rent? no. insurance? no. work, school, tuition? no. it was laundry. jesus christ i can't stand having to do the laundry. it doesn't help that my [i]extensive[/i] wardrobe only lasts me a week and a half. just imagine having to spend two hours out of your week waiting on the wash. you can feel your lifeforce being leeched from your body. don't tell me to grab a book either. i've tried that, and you know what? it's still waiting for the wash. and if you have to go to a laundromat, then fuggetaboutit. clothes are overrated anyways.

I'm 20 and I freaking hate it. I mean yes...I've had great times and I've met a ton of cool people. But there ARE somethings I would go back and change if I could. For instance...I would've forced my parents to send me to a better school district. Ours blew, also, I would've actually tried to get some scholarships, paying for college is a -blam!-, especially when you lose your fin aide. There are a ton of things I am happy about from my childhood and throughout my little life span. But there are some things that need to have never happened. Finicaially(sp) I hate being 20, but being able to have the freedom I do now isn't so bad....i could rant forever....so to make it short, 50/50 Is about how much i want my childhood back!

It says a lot about the true level of activity and maturity of the people on these forums when you realize that everyone is always trying to prove they have a more active social life than everyone else. My question is, "Who gives a -blam!-?" I'm here to talk about Bungie and maybe some other stuff. Anyways, yea, I know growing up sucks.... but hey, with responsibility comes freedom. Sometimes.

Yeah people used to steal stuff from my desk all the time. So then i just left the top of it totally bare. I just have a lamp, my phone, and some stupid Zen garden that one of the Heppie ladies gave me. i always poor water in it. So now nobody looks to steal anything. Also i keep wierd things in my desk like folded papers and candy wrapers. so when people open it there afraid of getting a pen with food on it. Also i dont think i have a stapler i just always use the copy machine one. Now that i think about it i waste alot of the companies money. Some times i print out emails that way it looks like im doing something. Then i just read them and throw them away. I also take bottles of water and cokes without paying for them. Then when i take my car for errands i usually add 5-7 miles so i get more back at the end of the month. I also use the supply closet for my own personal store for school supplies. See you just gotta find i way to sick it to them. Ok my job is almost exactly like the one on office space. except for TPS reports i do alumni event letters. [Edited on 8/10/2004 8:34:34 AM]

Ya that is true. "Oh really" "I didn't know" "I had no idea im sorry" works well also, but im so insignificant to the bank that nobody really pays attention to me. They only time people come by my desk is to steal stuff from me it really gets annoying. Every day I have to get a bunch of new pens, my stapler has gone missing many a time, and I have even had my chair taking before. I wonder how long it will be before some one just takes my computer or maybe my desk and leavs my comp sitting on the floor, I wouldn't be surprised.

Me and you should make a club... the "my job is so boring I want to kill my self with a spoon" club. I work at a bank and all I do is sit here and take papers out of folders and put them into a scanner then sit here for a half an hour watching them that is why i'm on here so much, a monkey (not even a trained monkey) could do my job... I have never done anything where time passes this slowly man it sucks. I can't wait till I finish college and get a job I actually like.

Ok sounds like an after school special. j/k Yeah i hate being old. I'm 23 and i go to college. You've guys heard me whine in the past i bet. I have a super boring job. I just surf the internet all day. Im a work-study at the alumni office at my college. This job is super boring. today i have to sit at the front desk all day and deal with old women. Yeah it sucks being old, i have to pay rent every month. Then i have to pay for a my car, insurance, cell, phone, and cable internet. Man so wish i was a kid right now. I would barely be getting out of bed. Theres a song by MxPx called Responsibilty. That song always reminds me of being a kid. I dont feel like an adult but i get treated like one. It sucks.
