What do you think the Pheru are?
Be creative , what do you think humanity's pet of choice was back
in the forerunner days?
{for those who didn't know, the Pheru was the original animal to be infected by the flood before spreading to the Humans and other species}

I thought dogs and the forerunners just let some of the de-evolved humans keep a few.

Cryptum didn't describe them much. Only thing we know about them is that they have shoulders. That isn't very accurate description nor a huge surprise.
