Did Dr. Halsey dislike the Spartan-IIIs , because...(Spoilers)

unlike her Spartan-IIs which were augmented and guided by her in the past and knowing each candidate since they were kids, the Spartan-IIIs she met (Noble team, except Jorge) was quite shocking moment for her, as she never knew of the existence of a Spartan-III project. She described the Spartan III's as much younger than her Spartan-II's and the armor they were wearing had field modifications, something she wanted to avoid as she developed MJOLNIR as a modular armor system. She was wondering whether they are also Spartan-II's because she desribed them as non-elegant appearing and assume they are inferior Spartan-II's or maybe product of a possible parallel project called JAVELIN. She even did not know about the existince of the Noble team before the Visegard Relais station incident on Reach which lead to Winter Contigency.

 • Jorge is NOT Halsey's son. Turn on SUBTITLES and when he says "mom" you will see that he's actually saying "Ma'am" but with an accent.

 •
Posted by: the real miker
Posted by: fpsbcheezit
Posted by: the real miker Doesn't matter. Halsey(with more clearance than Noble probably) must have read all of Noble's files. It's actually confirmed in the trailer before the game is released when she descibes all of Noble team. Then she must've know they weren't 'her' Spartans and therefore were 'manufactured' behind her back. Knowing this, the entire goose-chase she goes on at the end of First Strike and leads to Onyx makes NO SENSE.
I didn't disagree with you.
I was just trying to say the Easter Egg doesn't matter ;)
Which I already stated at the end of my post. [Edited on 12.16.2010 4:05 AM PST]

After The Fall Of Reach Halsey finds docs/links to the SIII project and starts to wonder what they mean and ends up going to Onyx to find out.. She doesn't even know they exist even though she's seen a bunch of em(Noble) during The Fall Of Reach.. Plot hole?
or the book writers just fail.
Or people like you just fail to understand that Halsey didn't know Noble Team were from the Spartan-III program.
She did though. So that means the books are not canon.
Books are canon. The think is that it is hard to make up a new story to fit it the Halo Universe with alot of stuffs already in it. So they just had to "overwrite" the current "facts".

 • You guys should read the "ghost of onyx" it will answer all these questions and more. Its a good read. Spartan051 of the spartan 2 project. AKA Kurt was promoted to LT Comander and was put in charge of the Spartan 3 program along with Chief Mendez (who actually trained the first batch of spartans) Dr. Halsey was upset that ONI took her research and mass produced the spartans. The selection process was expodited and the correct precautions were overlooked. Was just a few reasons she was upset. Read the books. Its great info in the halo universe! Long enough for S-117 to come along and be like "Okay, I will save the universe now."

 • Dr. Halsey likely has a problem with the S3's because of the way ONI went about it. Her S2 program was designed to create soldiers that could take on missions that were nigh impossible and have a good chance of survival. The S3 program was a cheap copy, with less training and augmentation, to produce suicide soldiers. The whole S3 program was never meant to have a high mission survival rate (or any survivors) at all... something she was patently against. She felt that they used her research to do a hugely immoral act, in addition to stealing kids for the program, which she had regrets about doing in her program. Also, as Ackerman was in some sort of political battle with her she would naturally have some misgivings about "his" soldiers. Take these things together and it explains her reaction to them.
