Bungie should invest more into the crafting system and make it towhere it equals tier 5 gear.
Even if that means grinding a certain activity, it would make an entire system not go to waste.
Edit: for those simple minded, we paid for it. Just like previous content we own, now most of us are left with the feeling that it wasnt worth grinding for in the end.

I agree, but with a major rework to crafting. So you'd need to collect either a lot more drops (and do away with red borders), or make it like a perk-banking system. But also rework it so every weapon has a Tier Core that only comes from dismantling other weapons of that Tier (i.e. a Tier 4 Core comes from dismantling Tier 4 weapons). Crafting needs to be a bad-luck protection system, not some way of skipping Tiered content. Unfortunately I doubt Bungie will do it, because they'd rather hope players are willing to jump on the hamster wheel yet again in recycled content than actually spend any resources on make that feel good, which is why the only people excited are the gambling addicts whose only enjoyment comes from getting drops (rather than from using them).

I could see crafting being T4 so the try-hards can chase the RNG dopamine hits... but that's by design to get them hooked got to have that anticipation and release with the drop...bunch of addicts if you ask me classic psychological manipulation

1 ReplyEdited by Joulevette12: 7/6/2025 4:15:39 AMBruh all I see with this whole tier system is inflating the loot pool, I would understand if Bungie made resources to upgrade tier 1-3 to 4 and 5 like we do from crafting and Masterwork to make it so that they drop from endgame content or something. Imagine grinding 5 iterations of each weapon 😑

11 Replies1) Crafting kills loot value in its current form. That’s why Bungie moved away from it. 2) if they absolutely are committed to crafting, I think they would need to require 5 copies of the specific weapon with the specific perk in the specific slot to “infuse” that perk into your crafted frame. Preserve the loot chase while letting you work toward “your” God roll.

0 crafted guns should get tier 5, tier 3 at max
-
I disagree. Crafted weapons shouldn't be more than tier 3. Adepts that can be enhanced should be tier 4. Shiny adepts (from Heresy and RotN) should be tier 5.

Edited by Altoryu: 7/7/2025 2:14:50 PMI want crafting to come back but at the same time I can see what some people were saying about being too easy to get red borders. I think I remember someone suggest a different system where you extract perks from random rolls to slowly build a craftable weapon so need to find 'x' amount of a weapon with rampage on it in order to unlock rampage as a perk on a craftable weapon. Might be something that could give us crafting while not discarding random rolls entirely.

I think the worst mistake with crafting is that they made them the strongest weapons. Always should have been guaranteed mid tier workhorse weapons with the best gear as drops. Funnily enough, the system will now be that but even not being let of the new system, guaranteed and choosable god rolls is still really strong.
-
2 RepliesAll current craftable weapons will still be available it's not like bungie is removing the enclave. Also, the legacy raid weapons will still be craftable. T5 weapons look very meh, at least the ones they've shown off. Idk not really interested currently. T5 armor, yes that I want. Weapons? Ehh not so much. Crafted raid weapons like Fatebringer, Vision of Confluence, Hezen Vengeance, Abyss Defiant, Zaouli's Bane, Doom of Chelchis, etc will still be near BIS or BIS. These guns will still be monsters. They're not going anywhere. As far as adding new stuff to crafting, until bungie can figure out how to make crafting a real progression system instead of a free God Roll hand out system (which, is what it currently is), crafting needs to stay where it is. No more new crafting patterns.

I agree with you actually

8 RepliesYou're looking at the franchise wrong now & you're not seeing the bigger picture. Look at the portal as D3 lite, which I'd guess they're planning on building on over the next few years so they can build a new game in real time & not lose yearly income by simply making the full game. D2 as you know it right now is finished, from 15th of this month it's pretty much sunset, it's even being called legacy & will get no support going forward, it'll eventually be dropped away to standalone so buyers can still play it like they do D1, and portal will bloom into a new thing. Their issue is, if numbers don't hit targets the whole thing will potentially be shutdown by Sony. I'm bungies biggest critic & I think this is a very good move to fund, build, & maintain whilst keeping current players happy & building some form of momentum for the future of the franchise.

8 RepliesNo. They should have either cut crafting completely. Or Completely redesigned how the game handles Loot and crafting.
-
No they shouldn’t, crafting is horrible for the game and should be left to rot
-
Agree 💯
-
Bungie is done with crafting if you haven’t noticed. Just the exotic hand cannon in edge is craftable.
-
-
Nah new systems should be for new gear. Otherwise, you would've made a post three years ago saying we should be able to craft year 1-4 gear when crafting came out.
-
No. It should be better than it is now, but not equal to tier 5. Maybe 3.

Oh look it's division 2 all over
