I think fusions are too easy to use in crucible, and there is limited primary weapon counter play available.
I think the intended way the devs tried to balance fusion rifles was the charge time. Ideally, if a person uses a fusion and does not pre-charge it in cover, their appointment should be able to take them out before they are able to get their shot off with primary weapons.
Assuming the average TTK of primary weapons is 0.8 secs. Most fusions have a faster charge time than that. High impact with a charge time of 1 sec or so might as well be .8 secs with the amount of latency in this game.
The only viable way of countering fusions is peak shooting, IMO.
You can out ttk a fusion charge time with a side arms/smg but you have to hit your optimal ttk, and you will end up trading most of the time.
I propose moving fusions to the Heavy Slot. In Crucible, they feel like a free kill. Every time you take out a fusion rifle user, they respawn with more ammo. I have to be perfect while they don't even have to hit crits.
If the idea of moving them to Heavy Slot is not appealing, I would also be happy with increasing the charge time across the board and decreasing the range of percision fusions. I think rapid fire fusions are okay as they are now and wouldn't touch them.

This game is basically peekaboo with shotguns and fusions. I vote unlimited special ammo and let everyone run wild.

1 ReplyNo primary is outdamaging a special What do you think is going to happen in close range environment between a pulse rifle and a shotgun ? The bias in these posts are so transparent it's comical , "My free one hit kill is fine, but your free one hit kill should be removed" And they already tried moving specials to Heavy, it made 70% of Destiny players quit the franchise and never return Plus the top 3 special weapons are Shotguns, and Bungie acts purely on numbers , so good luck

I’ve been saying this since D1 fusion rifles are terrible in low skill environments but going against any one decent player they become the easiest special in the game. The servers/latency make fusion rifles impossible to counter without changing your loadout and their charge time doesn’t matter since “pre-charging” is a thing, they just don’t belong in the special slot with how easy they are currently, sure they’re not as simple as a shotgun but they’re most definitely easier.

4 RepliesEdited by WinterSolstice: 3/16/2025 4:32:17 AMThey should move shotguns to the heavy slot then. Considering only like 1 fusion is overperforming it's be a stupid idea to move all of them when shotguns beat out 99.9% of fusions. Edit: I was pointing out how stupid of an idea but this is literally just people begging for d2 launch. 10 minute long grenade/melee cooldowns that deal 20 damage while specials don't exist!

Great change
