I don't think that anyone would disagree with me when I say that the addition of the new weapons mods such as ballistics has been a wonderful new addition to the game, especially for PvP. The thing I don't understand however is why Bungie limited these mods to only newer weapons? These mods could give certain older weapons a nice boost to allow them to be competitive again. For example I was using my old waking vigil a few weeks ago and while it's stats aren't bad they certainly can't compete with the palindromes, austringers, etc. The use of a ballistics mod however could help to lower the gap. There are hundreds of old weapons that would greatly benefit from the use of these mods and I simply can't see a reason as to why they shouldn't be able to use them. I also just want to add that while I am not a game developer I don't think there is a technical reason why older weapons can't use the new mods because in the 30th anniversary event we got the confetti mod and all weapons can use that one.

Completely agree, would be great to use my spare rations with ballistics

So we farm new weapons

3 RepliesI think Bungie has specifically limited these new mods to crafted or enhanced weapons for the express purpose of discouraging the use of older weapons. It's a looter shooter but we've got 7 years worth of loot. Why grind for a new gun if I've got something nearly identical in the vault from 5 years ago? Bungie has to incentivise players to want the new stuff. Plus with possible changes coming in Apollo, everything we currently have could become useless.

I still got all the original season of arrivals weapons now time to regrind them all over again. Still waiting for "Trophy Hunter" and "Pyroclastic flow" to return I kinda regret deleting them now due to sunset😔
