Weapon balancing but what about ability balancing?

Bungie tries to balance guns… but then f.e. you have titan consecration killing 4 full health guardians in the iron banner match I played. I don’t think the warlock and hunter abilities can do that…

        • The only time Bungie cared about ability balancing was during Forsaken when they claimed they wanted PvP to be more about gunplay. Lasted a whole week or so before beyond light came out and broke everything.

        • Just embrace it bro.. instead of complaining here (Bungie devs don’t care about PvP) just get an ability spamming build and focus on winning matches with abilities mostly If everyone starts abusing ability based pvp gameplay you will see the change soon lol.. the people who are against ability nerfing will start crying in the forums lol

          • The vast majority of pvp players are prismatic hunter. Not consecration titan lol. Especially in trials..... there is a reason for that.

            • I think a good balancing idea would be to buff every ability that I use and then nerf every ability that I don’t use. If this idea isn’t done then the change is automatically bad and I’m going to be angry and throw bricks at people

                  • "Consecration killing 4 full health guardians" so for this to happen here's all of the things required 1. You have to allow the Titan within about 12 meters 2. No one has to be SHOOTING the Titan or doing anything to them (Consecration's entire animation is like 1.5 and you have 4 people there that titan should be dead before they even reach the peak) 3. No one has to be moving/jumping 4. They have to be bunched up (It's wide but not super wide even standing a few meters apart can avoid the slam)

                    • Consecration Speaking from experience as a non titan, it's entirely your own fault for huddling up, and guess what, ember of char does the rest Again, if you die to Consecration, you either weren't paying attention or just...didn't double jump which eliminates the entire move btw

                    • Consecration [i]can[/i] do that but so could an arc grenade on warlock once upon a time, and so can just about any ability with an AOE. Don't be sitting up your teams butts... sounds like punishment for camping to me.

                    • If hunters' ability where they jumped in the air and slammed the ground, creating a smoke cloud could do that, it would be nerfed in about 0.25 seconds. Actually, you know what, Bungie, let's make it fair - Buff this ability to one shot and give it a 3 meter range. Then all classes will have one of these kind of abilities.

                      • I did get 4 today with the electric slide on my warlock, but as a warlock main I hear you. Was going in with the expectation of seeing diamond lances everywhere from comments earlier this week but didn't really see it when I finally got a chance to play

                        • I don't think the abilities themselves are a problem, I think the cooldowns on the other hand should be significantly increased, especially in PvP. But I don't play it enough to care too much.

                            Consecration is one thing. With the reduction in Hunter and Warlock abilities by an additional 15% cooldown increase on prismatic, [b]Diamond Lance[/b] and [b]Knockout[/b] also have free reign. [b]Shiver Strike[/b] also has an 80% return on ability energy when used for movement. Strictly using usage to decide what changes should be made instead of playing the game and experiencing these things is making the game worse in the end, not better.

                          • We are never going to get an emphasis on weapons like we’ve had in the past again because of how the rest of the game works now. Seasonal changes and activities basically requires overtuned abilities for build crafting and synergy. This is the tradeoff for the game becoming more mmo than shooter.

                          • When the guns work the way they should people can have whatever abilities they want. Other than hhsn and ballistic slam or feedback fence. Those are the only banned abilities.

                          • Yeah, consecration is a huge outlier. I witnessed the same thing several times... A consecration slam is too quick and powerful for such a frequent ability. So is the pole Hunters throw though. You're unlikely to avoid either one of them.
