I hope it would mean deleting the D2 forums and shutting down of the outdated and expired D2 servers.

Bungie is currently attempting to make their studio more efficient and more focussed. I will be very surprised if the forums survive that process. I guess it depends on how good this place is at keeping customers (and potential customers) engaged.

Accidentally wrote a wall of text, TL;DR at bottom and wall of text in spoiler. [spoiler]Maybe im the one who's just not getting it and im being dum dum but I dont entirely see where this notion of these forums likely being converted into Marathon only/requiring having played Marathon is coming from. I perfectly understand wanting being able to keep being here, im not exactly new round these parts either so ive seen some purges and know something like that [i]can[/i] happen, I just dont really see Marathon causing one. Theyre what from I been able to gather, two wildly different games with seperate intended audiences. And most importantly, the reason for why I dont see it goin down the way as some fear is that I dont believie Marathon will be Bungie's next hit; their new main project, dethroning D2. For literally a decade and then some, Destiny has been that for them from what I can tell atleast, havin played since TDB. Even with the 10yr saga recently finished [u]and[/u] the recent layoffs, I think D2 will continue to be their main thing for some time as I havent seen anything pointing towards otherwise, quite the contrary in fact. Assuming theyre capable of it and willing to maintain forums for both games, why would Bungie axe the current forums or commit another purge? Keep in mind im obviously running with assumptions here, im no tech genius when it comes to a place like this so I dont know if they feasibly can. I suppose maybe the Halo oldheads still around might have another view as they've actually been trough a massive change akin to this. Its not like something like this is unprecedented either so its a fair concern in a way; I just don't currently think its a [i]realistic[/i] outcome, based on what I know and keeping in mind that tech has [i]probably[/i] progressed quite a bit since the Halo forum days.[/spoiler] TL;DR: I dont believe Marathon will dethrone/replace D2 as Bungie's main game so im assuming these forums wont become locked behind having played Marathon/become Marathon only, also assuming Bungie has the capability and willingess to have forums for both.

They'll more than likely do like they did when they killed the B.net Halo forums to launch this. If they continue with their requirement to complete any amount of the new game or you cannot post, then I'll wager most of us from the old forums will fade away.
