If you’re reading this then you’re probably a hard core D2 player. It’s probably your main game. It probably is the best at what it does right now. Nothing comes close to the action and feel of the gameplay. And it has that addictive progression loop. You will burnout on it. So play other games every now and then. Take a month off. And when you come back it’ll be fun again.

1 ReplyUsed to do that. Tired of it. Not even burnt (though I have been in the past), just can't stand this game anymore. Most of the issue for me is the contrived difficulty which is more of an annoyance than actual difficulty. They just draw everything out to be much longer than it should be. And the seasonal model has finally gotten me. Used to be that games would charge a certain amount to cover past and future development, and people would pay and play. This drip-feed, seasonal model, though moderately priced, has begun to grate on me because of the way Bungie have implemented it. Instead of delivering robust DLC, they continue to draw things out over the season. Most players, I think, would rather have it all up front and then rely on replayability and or special quests for epic kit. TIme-gating with limited replayability has ground this game to a halt for me. Combined with the obviously contrived difficulty to draw out encounters has made this game a slog, not at all enjoyable. So while it may be the best at what it does, that's a dubious achievement. This has been an epic failure for something that began with so much promise. Perhaps it was too much to expect a franchise to maintain and execute on a vision over ten years' time.

7 RepliesNever burned out in 10 years, 8-12 hours a day every day. Barely played since day 3 of FS, everything is stale & jaded, the play loops are old & tired, there's been no creativity in years. Thought a day off n I'd be back, but as I go to load up I think why am I bothering? There's nothing to do. There's more incentive to play pong. Said id quit gaming when I was done with destiny & I'm at the stage now where it's either black ops6 in October or sell my Xboxes & use the money for sky sports & go back to watching sport

3 RepliesYou know what, the longer you take breaks, destiny becomes less and less appealing to play
-
I'm playing Witcher 3 at the moment.
-
When it comes to action and gameplay, destiny is far from the best

I’ve been playing since Destiny beta and I agree. I take tons of breaks and play other games. Once I get to a point where I accomplished enough, I drop the game for what can be weeks or months at a time. Sometimes I just don’t play any game at all or I am playing something else like when BG3 or CP: Phantom Liberty dropped. I skip many seasons this way but honestly, it never feels like I miss a lot because there’s always new content to come back to.

Yeah I want to no clip and get lost into a backrooms badly but there aren’t any good ones for consoles yet. But there’s gonna be 2 new ones tba though. I’m itching for either one...

I took off about two years and came back a few weeks ago and I’m enjoying it so far. I haven’t even bought Final Shape or Lightfall yet either. I’ve been focusing on Exotic Ciphers mostly and have been working on power level. Feels like a totally different game now since the last time I played. Can’t wait till I can afford to get the Strand and Prismatic subclasses soon.

If your eyes aren’t bleeding, you’re a filthy casual. 🙃

Taking brakes will help with the frustration a little bit that lot are having, but it won't fix a developer constantly looking for ways to make the game worse as time moves on that keeps the frustration going. Basically they are casing people to leave the game. Less than a month i think and the expansion went on sale because they are losing the player base faster then usual. I gave the game another go for a bit, but the stupidly overdone padded playtime has tripled in the last couple of years that I couldn't deal with it that I will Uninstall the game again. I doubt I will play again unless Sony does what they should have done when they bought this developer, clean house. When a developer is throttling ammo to extend playtime in a looters shooter or riggs it to have the player run out of ammo. That a lone shows how bad things actually are and that is only 1, just 1 of the many wrong things about what they are doing to this game.

1 ReplyHonestly I used to main destiny 2 until bungie basically told us indirectly a couple years ago that the hard-core don't matter. Example, by time gating stuff, if you played more than the casual, well that's too bad. Entertain yourself I am not talking about needing finite things to do but if I log in for 2 hours and that's all that is required to "Play the game" then I don't see it as a positive thing. The seasonal model was catered towards the gamer that only played for 2 hours I am not mad, I just played other games when destiny decided to not be interesting

I took a couple of years off and came back right before this expansion. I'll probably be doing the same again soon.

9 RepliesBut I need to keep up the PvP improvement grind till I get ascendant

Just the best message on the forum. Thank you, gardian !

1 ReplyYou could. But if you do you'll have to wait for two months until that Raid/Dungeon you want to farm becomes the Weekly Featured one again! Welcome to the FOMO Bungie has created.

Thanks for the advice. I am getting kinda sick of the game atm. 👍

I'd say it's not the best at what it does right now. In some aspects it is, in the aspects I care about the most it sadly isn't. Months off helps, mostly because I forget that it still lives in the shadow of it's former self when it comes to PvP.

Thank you. Appreciate the thoughtfulness.

Great advice.

Gross. Not even close to my main game these days. 😂 I do think people here need to go outside a bit more though.
