So it's supposed to be a 1 in 5 chance of a masterwork weapon from shax is it. 214 medals for 1 drop 🤮. Grinding for nothing 😔

2 Replies5% is 1 in 20. And it’s not guaranteed. That’s not how probability works. Get educated. Set expectations right. Whine about the real problem: why isn’t there guaranteed shiny drops and why can’t we directly buy them using tokens.

2 RepliesThey absolutely should do what Warframe does. Have an official drop table with exact percentages for every activity and resource.

I'm holding until the weekend in hopes of a patch then 👍🏻

2 RepliesYou just now figuring that out? They're playing you. They had abysmal drop rates and even worse drop rates on the best perks for the entire time since ITL dropped and now, for the last week of the season they claim they're doubling the drop rate and all you suckers come running. They are just trying to buff numbers on what will be a very slow week. Don't fall for that cheap perk throttling garbage. Stop listening to paid off streamers lying to you about how you "have to have these meta weapons". Mountaintop is literally the only weapon worth chasing. Every other weapon has other duplicates. Even Blast Furnace has a stasis duplicate that has equal or better pvp rolls, and better recoil in a crafted version... And those four burst pulses are only good for pvp anyway.

Edited by The Hermit IX: 5/29/2024 5:30:27 PMPost a link to the 1 in 5 drop comment. I haven’t seen that. I only saw increased drop rates starting today.

12 RepliesSadly probability doesn’t work that way. If it’s a 20% chance (1 in 5) and you had 21 rolls of the dice (214 tokens) then you have a 20% chance each roll of that dice. Every 5 you aren’t guaranteed a drop. Maybe over millions of tokens you’d see those odds but just 21 times isn’t enough to see that.

Who told you it was supposed to be a 1 in 5 chance? That's the kind of claim you need to back up when you make it.
-
Don’t they need to run maintenance/downtime to amend drop rates or can that be done in the background? There was no downtime maintenance this reset…
So it's supposed to be a 1 in 5 chance of a masterwork weapon from shax is it. 214 medals for 1 drop 🤮. Grinding for nothing 😔
Is it? Bungie said the drop rate is 1 in 5? If so, then it is. For them to state that, would mean that they've programmed the game, written code or what ever the terminology is so the weapons drop as they state, 1 in 5. You can try getting the weapon a 1000 times with no luck and the drop rate would still be 1 in 5. When the odds are 1 in 5 and you have 10s of thousands of player all trying to win that 1 in 5 prize at any given time, then even though it's improbable, a player can possibly not get even 1 after a 1000 tries while another can get 1 every try. On bungie's end, every time the activity or whatever one is chasing is completed 5 times it drops the reward. I suspect that is how legend and master lost sectors work. Bungie never stated what the actual drop rates are but players have done extensive testing that provided figures of 1 in 4 chance for legend and 1 in 3 chance for master to drop the exotic reward for a solo run. Every time 3 master lost sectors are completed by the whole player base an exotic drops.

Grinding for nothing 😔
That's not how RNG works. As an example... If Bungie states you have a 30% chance of an exotic dropping at the end of a legend lost sector. That means 30% chance on that run. It does not mean that you should get a drop 30% of the time (1 in 3) over the course of X amount of runs. The majority of players that complain about no drops misunderstand what 30% means in terms of RNG. It is not 1 in 3. For it to be a 1 in 3 chance, when you start the activity the game must preselect 2 legendary rewards and 1 exotic, and then pick from those rewards at random. To make things more fun, players assume that if you've managed to pull legendary rewards from 2 runs, you must get an exotic on the 3rd run because you've already got the other 2 rewards. This is a completely wrong understanding of RNG. For true RNG with a 30% chance of an exotic drop, when you start the activity the game pulls 70 legendary rewards and 30 exotics, and picks one at random to assign as your reward. You complete the activity and get your reward. When you restart the activity, the game doesn't use the 99 rewards that it has left over, it pulls 100 awards again and picks at random from them again, giving you a fresh 30% chance. You could literally do 1000 runs and never get an exotic, and that's not the fault of Bungie's RNG. That's just luck. Now with Brave weapons the odds are a lot lower than legend lost sector exotics, so expect to get them far less.
