Tldr: Legend onslaught is actually what the community has requested. Very, very difficult content. While at the same time, more casual players aren't missing out on adept drops or end game loot.
It's a great balance of challenge with a nice incentive with a cool emblem. But not having too much FOMO by locking adept drops or even shiny weapons behind.
But i do think wave 50 shoupd have more chests.
There's been a bit of discussion about legend onslaughts difficulty. Everyone needs some perspective here.
The conversion seems to swing wildly from "haha get good scrub, skill issue" to "sweaty players have ruined the game."
There is a middle ground here, and bungie has found it. Legend onslaught is actually harder than GM's once you get to higher waves. The hard-core players have genuinely difficult content to test themselves against. With an encounter design that forces you into the fray and you can't just sit back with wishender or polaris lance, or you will fail.
But more importantly, there isn't really good loot at the end it. And this is very important here, that's a good thing.
Whenever bungie locks loot behind to difficult of content, casual players complain nonstop. Saying really good loot should be attainable.
It's literally lost for bungie. No one is happy. Hardcore players say they game is too easy. And casual players say it's not fair.
Bungie has actually made the right move here. It is very difficult content to satisfy the hardcore. But the casuals that can't complete it are not missing out on loot. Yet the hardcore is still rewarded with a really cool emblem. It's actually perfect.
