• Fender Strat. But if I could only pick one guitar—-desert island—-it would be a PRS. I love Strats but PRS guitars are more versatile.

        • My dead brother-in-law left behind 22 and some were really good ones; Fender, Gibson, etc. We donated them to a group that teaches guitar for free and provides instruments to people who can't afford them. They auctioned his expensive guitars and used the money to get good regular ones for their students. It would have really pissed him off, which makes it even better.

          • Haven’t played in a while cuz post-spring break semester time=no life. My favorite guitar I own is my LTD Olympic white Snakebite. Sounds good regardless of amp/plugin and looks amazing. Neck profile is comfortable tho I do wish it was 25.5 in scale length and 24 frets. Currently looking at getting a Solar seven string V or X, but not sure if I should because I’ve barely played my guitar recently and I worry I won’t have the time to play next semester.

              • I've got three. My first guitar was an entry level (~$200) Warlock from B.C. Rich. It did the job and got me into guitar, but man, now that I have other guitars to compare it to, the pickups sound like hot garbage. My second guitar (and current main) is an ESP LTD F-200. It's a low-mid range guitar in terms of price (~$600), but it's been great so far. The pickups sound a lot cleaner than the ones on my Warlock, and the body style is -blam!- beautiful. I'd definitely suggest this guitar if you're looking for a decently priced guitar for metal (assuming you're comfortable with using a floating bridge/tremolo). My newest guitar was an ESP LTD MH-17. It was my first 7 string guitar, so I ended up going with another $200 model in case I didn't vibe with the wider fretboard. Surprisingly enough, the fretboard wasn't as wide as I was expecting, so adjusting to using 7 strings was more natural than I had assumed it would be. It also sounds a fair bit better than my Warlock, which was the same price for fewer strings. My only complaint is that the frets had jagged edges sticking out on the sides and needed to be filed down, but that may have just been because of humidity and temperature differences from the location it was shipped from.

I recently picked up an axe I’ve been eyeballing since I was a little -blam!-, an Ibanez Iceman, this one from around ‘02. It’s still probably my favorite body shape, but the longer I’ve had it, the less I like the neck feel of the guitar. Also recently picked up a lower end Jackson soloist (always loved the sharkfin/hockey stick headstock) and it’s probably the best guitar I’ve ever played. Feels great in hand, has a nice balance to it, and as gimmicky as it sounds it’s lightning fast. My speed and accuracy have increased noticeably since that guitar has taken priority in my rig. It’s really got me considering selling a few guitars and picking up a higher end Soloist to replace them.
