Its sad to say Recluse sucks compared to Funnelweb

There is zero point in getting a recluse if you have one of the many god rolled funnelwebs the game throws at you. Master of Arms needs to be reverted to its original damage value otherwise Frenzy will always beat it as a perk. The only thing Recluse has going for it now repulsor brace with a damage perk. It doesnt even get Veist Stinger which makes funnel web already a better SMG and its a world drop.

  • Agreed just tried my Funnelweb Perpetual/Elem on Void and its rock solid. Been tryin Recluse for days disappointed. The devs can flick a switch and change that though so hang on to rolls that make sense.

      It’s literally the same gun but with Better stats,origin trait and perks than funnel web What are you talking about (Yes I know they have the same god roll of sub and frenzy but funnelweb has the enhanced versions in final shape so it’s better) Also your thinking of old veist stinger which would make your comment true while current verity stinger is hot garbage

      • Yes and no, master of arms is basically a lovechild of harmony and rampage and honestly, that's the entire appeal. Forsaken made it so broken it was stupid. You could do the same amount of damage to the body as if you were hitting headshots It was busted and the reason the forsaken era was considered the golden age was because things were absolutely busted. However it wasn't good for the game long term. Because recluse became top picks in pve and pvp. It wasn't even an exotic either but it felt like one

          • They announced a Nerf to Master of Arms in the exact same notes where it was said that Recluse would come back. They didn't even give the gun a chance with that first nerf it got back when it was Sunset.

            • people need to rework they brain when it come to brave weapons. they clearly said they wont be the same as they where. so shut the pie hole and be happy with the content. i you dont like the change dont use the weapon. Imo they should remove alot of weapons becus we have way to many weapons in the game alrdy,its almost to many,we didnt have nearly as many in D1.

              • They both suck in my opinion compared to other weapons like polaris lance, sunburst, a few bows, etc.

                  People who say that Master of Arms needs to go back to its original damage values are either misremembering it or never actually used it. Yes, the perk could do with a buff now, but it is [i]never[/i] going back to its first state. 50% damage up after any weapon kill was mad enough, but increasing all body shot damage to match precision damage was truly insane. If it gets any buff, the likelihood is that it won't exceed a 20% damage buff - that's what Harmony provides, except it can't sustain itself with kills on the weapon it's rolled on. Also, 5% grenade/melee energy on kill is infinitely better than Veist Stinger's 25% reload.

                  • Bruh, the perk options alone invalidate Funnelweb's existence. Including MoA, especially if you're looking at a Crucible roll. You're either high, or just determined to have the worst time possible.

Rampage style perks haven't been good enough for a long time now.

                        Game has only given me two rolls that I’ve ever kept. The rest were utter trash. Yes; Funnel-web does have better zoom. Frenzy is always nice.

                      • I appreciate the fact that recluse is very much a PvE weapon, with some finely curated PvP rolls. They’re not too powerful, and don’t incentivize going for other weapons of equal or greater power. It’s fine in my eyes. Submission is still a fantastic choice.

                        • Recluse has slightly less range than funnelweb but it has more options. Things like feeding frenzy makes reloading much better than funnelweb which only really has subsistence, which isn't great in higher level content.

                          • Imagine that, guns that were fan favorites for being too damn busted in a wildly different gun landscape being brought back, solely as a sop and an ego soothing gesture to "longtime players," feels different and disappointing in an environment where power is freely available!! And now these elder fans of the game are mad at Bungie because their expectations of a then-busted gun don't measure up today? Gosh, it's almost like people expect that everything should always feel better and more powerful, but also stay the same and never ever change!! and it's almost like if any attempt is made to engage with nostalgia it's always going to be upsetting and unfulfilling to the people who compare the past and present negatively, and hold what is outdated and retired to be some sort of objectively superior gold standard!! It's almost like pushing for the inclusion of things just for nostalgia is a terrible idea that will always end badly. Can't fault Bungie for this one though, this L lands squarely on the shoulders of short-sighted fans who will nevertheless insist that this disappointment is only bungie's fault, and not their own in the slightest, for whinging day in and day out about guns that would probably be underwhelming at best today.

                            • Recluse is a straight upgrade tbh. Veist Stinger has been exceptionally mid since Lightfall. New origin trait on Recluse: Indomitability is S-tier. Go Sub + Frenzy or Enlightened Action + Desperate Measures It’s also now the best Repulsor + Destabilizing SMG in the game. Saying Funnelweb is flat better is more than a stretch

                                I said this when they announced Onslaught and the loot that it was going to drop. These were originally pinnacle weapons that were game breaking and way overpowered.... that's why they were sunset. It was obvious that they wouldn't be brought back with their original versions of their stats. And I agree, the funnelweb is a better smg altogether, especially with the veist stinger trait. It would have been a better idea to rename and reskin these weapons, and label them as "new loot".

                                • Havnt played in a awhile. Just came back recently for some rolls on Midnight Coup an Hammerhead. Hope those are great this go around.

                                    • Recluse is fine, Indomitable is a good enough origin trait that I think it is still a better option than Funnelweb. Master of Arms just needs to buff body shot damage more so that it keeps its old identity at least, but the damage bonus is reasonable. Harmony is a 20% damage bonus and Master of Arms is just better Harmony in terms of activation criteria. Comparing perks to Frenzy will pretty much always result in you considering it worse than it because Frenzy is arguably the best widely accessible damage perk in the game because it is also a great reload and handling perk (I fully expect Frenzy to get nerfed at some point).
