Passage of Persistence is exactly what the playlist needed. Rewarding your time in the playlist is absolutely huge.
Encouraging 3 stacks to stick together in Trials. Absolutely huge.
Comps artifice armor. Absolutely huge.
Call me a Bungie meat rider but this TWID was great!

Meh 🥱
-
Bungie when they’re game is on the verge of dying weirdly always delivers
-
Yea very "W" twid. After 5 years of extremely stingy loot distributions and only rewarding carry streamers with loot, they finally decide to throw some bread crumbs at the regular players (interestingly right when the game is dying off) Yea lets praise them for treating us like trash for years and then pulling the emergency card right when the game is bleeding players like crazy. Only rewarding stacks with proper loot drops is also very bad for the regular players btw. It will maybe help solos not match them as often but a simple permanent freelance option with equal loot drop chances for EVERYONE would have made too much sense? I dont know, everything this dev does always has a bitter taste to it. Freelance weeks always had extremely high player engagement numbers. People like queueing up solo. For reasons. Stop rewarding stacks so much more than solos. Solos are already at a disadvantage. Streamers stacks have never had issues getting their loot in the first place. Rich get richer philosophy is draining.

The free hand outs of adepts will kill the playlist in the long term to be honest, unless bungie keeps adding really good adepts frequently. The rest of the changes are really good.
-
Cool now they actually need to properly tune the lobby balancing for all modes in PvP especially for solo players and not just say they will and make it worse like they always do.
-
Loving all the salty comments from the elitists lmao

If your die hard fan of PVP, then it may be great. But if you not good and you can't get kills, you will not get special ammo. Which is punishing low skilled players and discouraging to get them into the game mode. Call it what you will but the lack of PVE focus is killing this game. The core game has many issues and the PVP population is not saving this game with the dollars they spend. Yes it need attention but ignoring the base game to focus on PVP is not helping at all!

Edited by PandaPapa146: 2/23/2024 4:15:58 PM***snipped and reposted *** I do Trials when there’s a weapon I don’t have. I grab a card and accumulate 7 wins over time; mostly to earn engrams to get a piece of armour - the bits we all like! I’m an old tortoise…0.3% since way back. My aim is not to go flawless - as that’s just ridiculous, it’s to play the game…as best I can, and even have some good ones along the way - which I do, now and then. If I really wanted to go to the Lighthouse - there are many ways available…we all know it, too! But, that’s not my aim. FWIW: I won a streamer raffle in D1 and got a nice carry; I did contribute heartily, and earned my ticket. And it was nice to go there! What I really want is a fair scrap against players slightly above and below me, so a fair and balanced teams can duke it out on a level playing field. I would also like a lighthouse visit for simply accumulating 7wins regardless of losses along the way. It’s not rocket science! Comp: I do this occasionally…but the points lost for losing vs. Points gained for winning, make it a no-no! The real issues with Trials / PvP = P2P / lag / latency / sus players / paid carries / blatant cheats / etc. ❌❌❌❌❌❌❌ 🙄Until these are sorted, it’s just lipstick on a gorilla. Ease springs! 🫡 Edited for clarity

Well needed , get more people back into pvp / game has low numbers right now . 27,000 at peak compared with other games at 300,000-400,000 players is pretty bleak! It wild that a percentage of people are complaining or not happy with changes ….they are part of the problem . Bungie must do everything possible to keep players . Still want the game to be successful especially FS.

I'm open to what they put out here. Alot of it sounds like decent ideas at the very least, and I love what they're doing with Trials and Competitive. I'm so close to Gold. I would love to be able to advance and get Artifice armor. That opens up some good accessibility too, for players in general. Most of this sounds good for player accessibility, actually, which is something Destiny has desperately needed since the beginning, as an MMO genre. Massive accessibility is absolutely critical. I can't believe it took this long, but what matters is its being implemented. Now if they could make Sparrow Crucible something viable, with larger maps, that would be fantastic.

I am only worried that getting adepts will be too easy, for the long term it is bad for the playlist because of course once everybody has all the loot they want they will stop playing, unless trials is also extremely fun.
-
Yes great well thought out design description. Good plan for updates. Not so great plan for player count improvements. The issue PvP has currently is number of unique arenas and player count in each arena. When the player counts are low the algorithms breakdown and force lopsided matches. Please consider combining low count arenas into one and have different play types as rotated. Rotation random is not liked by anyone. Daily rotation may improve your data on acceptance or rejection. That way players can plan. Some less liked ideas for combining may be trials and competitive or IB and quick play. Both would improve team making.

Oh my holy lord...Trials is so damn watered down its boring..more so then regular water. This is all to aid Casual Players as usual. Artifice Armor in comp...ya..why even go for that armor when i already have artifice armor and its easier to get in PVE? And how is getting a NON-Adept weapon encouraging? oh dont forget you have a 50% chance to get an Engram....Ya we all know it will be Broken and it will be a 20% chance. You know what will get players back into Comp..and Trials? Ornaments! Reactive Ornaments. For both Weapons and Armor..Reactive Emblems...True Rank rewards...1 step forward...15000 steps backwards... This isnt Rocket Science Bungie!

That takes the crown as the most thorough PvP twab/twid that the game has had so far in terms of breadth and depth. Its really cool that you can tell they put a lot of effort into giving different types of players a reason to play instead of just a preview of what people supposedly deserve to have happen to them going forward. At this point the new stages look like an island oasis with how long its been since we've gotten new maps, so I'm really excited about that. And the new trials passages are indicative of a greater level of specificity and agility being applied to the mode. That should be considered a big win for everyone because its real actual progress just like the rest of what was in the twid.

Pvp changes mean nothing to me

Edited by jhermannITJ: 2/23/2024 5:20:23 PM100% And you can't go flawless... with the passage of persistence if you lose 1 time. There's no mercy. Edit: This is still mostly correct... but let me describe how you could technically lose and go to the Lighthouse, but why that's inconsequential. You could lose 7 times and still go flawless... with no wins on your card. Once you have one win... any loss flaws your card. So the edit is... 1 single loss after any win means you can't go flawless. A path to ONE SINGLE adept drop through attrition. Which is the core of my design philosophy respective loot tables and rewards: Skill = faster, more stuff... vanity accolades Attrition = less stuff, no real accolades... slower. Even if you lose once then run out... it's a lot less efficient. Skill grants metric efficiency.

Just a pity they’ve gone and spoilt all the playlists with this new special ammo economy.
-
The gate keepers are ousting themselves hard in this topic.
-
Which one is the cannon fodder card? I’ll take that one please. 😂
-
3 years too late
-
I don't think the incentive for 3 stacking is going to make a difference. Should've added higher chance to receive adept loot when running on a flawless card.
-
I've been aaking for something like this passage for a while. I'll personally never use it, but the playliat needs to stay populated if it's going to exist.
-
This making more apparent that Trials not the pvp endgame and it's shifting more to Comp now I know you top players like trials but let's be honest the mode dying faster then comp and theirs too many loop holes in the mode that's being taken advantage of especially by skill players to make the mode miserable to the majority then the very small minority even more so for Bungie to actually admit players liked freelance more the regular trials says alot

Comps artifice armor. Absolutely huge. Call me a Bungie meat rider but this TWID was great!
All this does is diminish the value of Adepts. This will have no long term benefit to the mode. A far better change would have been the removal of FBMM and a reduction in how often trials is available. FBMM actively discourages players from inviting friends to play with them. Trials being around less often would focus the population into the mode all at the same time.

Sony isn't -blam!-ing around.

Edited by stinkych33Ze: 2/23/2024 6:02:07 AMI completely agree. Artifice in comp could bring me back to actually playing that mode for more than 3 matches a week. Same for Trials. Maybe it won’t be 5 hours of resetting my card and then rage quitting every time I visit that game mode.
