I want to hear everyone’s opinion, let’s be mature and educate each other instead of hating each other.
Here’s my opinion: I think checkmate is a great addition to the game as it eliminates the people who “crutch” special, and I also like the decreased ability regen so that ability’s aren’t spammed and bubble/well isn’t a worry during the final rounds of the match. I think it could use a few more tweaks to balance everything out but as a whole the mode sounds like a better future for destiny PvP.
I look forward to everyone’s thoughts and please don’t be that person that trials reports others to justify ones opinion, go take your toxic ego somewhere else.
Everyone’s opinion is accepted regardless of background, if you are a PvP noob or even a pro, so state your thoughts!
Thank you for reading -Zorb

I think it's fine, because it's something different, but in trials, not in quickplay, especially with sbmm
-
For myself pvp isn't my jam. So the new changes don't bother me.
-
One of the biggest issues I see with this addition is…connection. Hitting headshots is a great idea to increase the “skill gap” but when the game doesn’t work as intended and your headshots don’t register then it’s going to be very frustrating and a bad experience.
-
The only thing that was bad about it was the TTK changes, since that has been rectified, the changes are mostly great, dunno why they’re scared to nerf smgs tho
-
The changes that are coming to what appears to be most of the sandbox will probably make the game more competitive from a balancing perspective. But there's nothing wrong with having the regular version of control (or something similar) available to see the differences in real time. Sometimes if the changes are really what's best they have to be "forced" though. And with the way some people act they might as well be forced to play it like that if its really that much better.

Killing the viability of special GLs is a huge loss in my opinion and seeing them referred to as annoyances kinda pisses me off when shotguns are getting the standard special treatment.
-
Things I’m looking forward to: less abilities and greater focus on accuracy. Things I’m unsure on: special ammo meter (although I like the idea of slightly less green ammo) and the increased super cooldown (I hope there’s a reasonable chance of getting at least one super per match). With regards to the above, general Crucible tuning looks pretty good (I’m sure there’ll be further tuning) and the standalone Checkmate modifier is something I’d like to dip into occasionally. * * * * * * * On a side note, I think a permanent playlist that dials up the ✨ power fantasy / space magic ✨ would be great as well. I hope they add this to provide an alternative option, alongside the upcoming changes.

All the sweaty bois who can’t get kills without their special ammo or abilities won’t know how to play PvP.
-
Considering the version of checkmate that there making into regular pvp has many of checkmates issues fixed I’d say it’s damn alright
-
Terrible change. My favorite way of playing is utilizing my special weapon and going on kill streaks with my special weapon. Being able to kill players with my special to get more special to kill even more; that's my jam and why i like D2 pvp.
-
I' no pvp player, but I did try Trials and Control as a checkmate version... it was awful. I would not play it, if it were possible to opt out. However, I play very little anyway, so I'll just play even less.

Edited by viiTactiiCZz: 2/21/2024 6:00:49 PMOne thing - its not fully checkmate, its a reduced version. Its going to slow down crucible and force people into hitting their shots more which for hitting shots is a good thing but imo its going to be a bit OTT on ability regen - this isn't CoD or Battlefield abilities are a big part of players There should be some always available playlists that don't have the changes though; doing a 'everything now has it' approach is likely going to result in at least some backtracking

They are NOT making a checkmate… but rather a hybrid of the current crucible formula (optimal TTK, special ammo at start the game, still 2 hit melees, supers lethality stays the same, special weapon lethality stays the same) + + some elements of checkmate (extra special ammo being earned via kills, assists, objectives, and even dying), body shot TTK being slightly longer due to extra 30HP, and abilities and supers with longer cooldowns. So the emphasis is more now on hitting headshots with primary weapons once you run out of the special ammo… And that is all… And yet people panic like it’s the end of the world 😂😂😂

ACTUAL checkmate is terrible. What is getting changed about regular PVP sounds good

Edited by The Hermit IX: 2/22/2024 12:39:24 AMWhat we are getting on March 5th isn’t the strict Checkmate modifier and has been altered multiple times already. With that said let’s play it and then give feedback so they can tweak it further. I think it’s going to be a good thing for PVP and I’ll absolutely play more because of it. Obviously what was happening in PVP for years hadn’t grown the population. Let’s give this a try.

I’m just grateful that Glorbo isn’t alive to see this

My only issue is if abilities take longer to charge and that's going to be standard PvP balance (no matter what Bungie calls it that's where they're going), okay fine... Then abilities should all get buffed to get more bang for our buck. More damage, AOEs last longer, trackers lock on harder, etc. Other than that I'm fine with it. Special ammo boxes should spawn on the map at half click compared to heavy ammo, tho, one box on each side of the map perhaps around A and C zones.

no is not , the problem was bungie feeding the american baby syndrome players with broken toys for a lot of time

I like it when I'm keen for primary gun play or want to try out a new primary. It's great as an option, but it's not a good idea to make it the only option for a certain playlist.
