Pinnacle grind destroys the game
As a long term (1810 geared player) I just wanted to come in and say :
Pinnacle grind destroys the game. Why? Because veterans don’t play with new players, at least not when they’re at or below 1800 power. They get matched with other low power players, they cant join any master content, people dont want them in raid groups.
So they log in every day to partake in your bullshit RNG based pinnacle grind, to get 1 or two more power. Spending hours and weeks, just to get to a point where someone wants to play with them.
Its pathetic and alienating, new players feel excluded and bullied. Like its a slog to actually get to a playable game.
On top of the worst matchmaking a game has ever seen.
Just an opinion, do with it what you will, you certainly don’t care Bungie. You never did. You had new players load into Dares on opening the game for months hahaha. Player retention? Player retention money?
A joke. A masterclass on how to lose new players. How to lose revenue

Honestly the new matchmaking system works really well. You can always find or start your own group pretty easily,to get on the grind. It shame it took so long to get right. There are still a-holes out there, but thats just life. New Xbox and account at Christmas I'm one secondary drop from pinnacle cap. Casual player.

11 RepliesThis is a bit outdated. Pinnacle grind has been all but removed with most content being 1790 or below. This is not the pinnacle grind of several years ago. Things are way easier now

4 RepliesIt's not that hard, I came back last week after taking a vacation in May with all my guardians at 1805 and just doing story and NF have them all at 1820 now. Add me if you like as I'm always running solo as well.

Pinnacle grind, and light level as a whole, have become useless. The end game activities cap you to 1815-1820. I actually don't like this game design. I like to invest my time into grinding and get stronger as the season progresses. There is no sense of progression in end game content for me.

I barely play anymore, to the point I jump on for 1 minute to check the store and then bail. Too many people are blinded by the flaws to accept that this game is getting nowhere for new players or players in general.

Did we all forget what happened when they took away the pinnacle grind? The fact that there's nothing to do without a pinnacle grind and then it's too grind when there is, just show lack of content or engaging content. Maybe that's the problem 🤷

Some player do help with pinnacle or anything needed by new lights. But new light mostly finish one mission then offline, stay at tower too long, in orbit, no communication etc. When being carried new light being a hero die alot and make veterans regret joining em. The whole purpose of you asking for help was to be carried. When asked do you how do do a raid or mission, everyone is quiet. But when attempt after attempt is a failure then new light start cursing that veteran didn't know anything.

10 RepliesThe problem is lack of pinnacle grind, less reason to engage with content , and loss of any sense of progression All mmos/rpg's have power grind , its incentive to keep going , but Casuals couldn't be expected to play more than 30 minutes a week , and be weaker than someone who plays 200 hours a week

3 RepliesI wish there was a pinnacle grind right now. I am bored out of my mind and only play around three hours a week now. There’s really no reason to hop on and play and I’ve been 1810 now for months and months. I don’t mind the grind and at least it gives me a reason to play the game. Oh well at least I can read some good books in the meantime.

False, all my friends stopped playing when they didn’t have pinnys to chase. Everyone cried but the truth is, that’s when the game started losing us veterans.

The pinnacle grind gave me a reason to play. Now as soon as the season storyline ends, so does my gameplay. I use to play hours daily, now maybe a cpl hours a week, and less interested everytime I log in.

I think it’s annoying but its importance is a bit overstated by you. A player can very well be 1800-1805-ish and get +10 or so on the artifact (within a few hours if they just focus on seasonal challenges) and be able to do 99% of the content in the game with no issue.

I actually like the pinnacle grind with DLC drops. Its something to chase. But I'm glad they removed it for seasons. Wasn't there a leak that they will be implementing a system where the party leaders power basically determines the level and raises the groups light so people can play together? Am I misremembering that?

I came back like 3 days ago and im already 1822 just using lfg inside of Destiny. Super easy to get people. I think you just have a lack of motivation.

What? The pinnacle grind is once a year now. If this is a problem for you or any new player. Move on. The old system was way way worse.
