Nostalgia bait: the DLC
Reused tower, Cayde, padding out exotic slots with D1 exotics, radiance, etc. These aren’t necessarily bad things, but there needs to be something more grand for a finale of the darkness and light saga.
Not to mention, but we’re getting only one super and a singular aspect for a singular subclass, hive enemies used as the main enemy faction…again, no new darkness subclass, no new enemy faction…
Just…really disappointing overall. I want the closing of the darkness/light chapter to be something monumental, but this just wasn’t it for me.

My thing is...after 9 years I want some answers on the universe outside of our inner circle. I don't care about Zavalla, Ikora, Cayde, the Vanguard, bringing back D1 stuff, etc. I want to know who/what the Traveler is, where it came from, who made it, who made the Veil, what were their original purpose...just details on any of that stuff and the stuff outside our own system. We've been strung along for years with the narrative with zero payoff and it didn't look like anything in Final Shape is going to change that, outside of setting it up for more paid DLC "episodes" or whatever nonsense Bungie is going to do afterward. Going inside the Traveler should give us some clues and lore/info on what the Traveler is and where it came from, how it was made, it's history, etc. not reprise a bunch of crap we've already been through for the last 9 years. The Final Shape teaser was incredibly underwhelming, designed to get the simps to preorder due to D1 exotics coming back along with Cayde. The season reveal was actually more interesting.

6 RepliesIMO the finale needs to have some nostalgia and it’d be weird if it didn’t have it (it’s a chance to reflect on everything we’ve done as we conclude the current saga). The location for TFS looks really interesting and I’m excited to play that. Disappointed there’s no new subclass or enemy race.

Copy pasting is easy and more profitable. Why bother creating fresh new content when they can sell old stuff back at a premium? I mean, Crota is the epitome of hypocrisy of the community. “Worst, shortest, easiest… bla bla bla raid ever” those people claimed/shouted for years, “most disappointing raid in a $20 expansion,” and yet they’re all here wanting to race a 10y old raid next week, only because they have nothing else to get clicks. So yeah, Bungie is right, let’s milk these idiots. Who wouldn’t do that when $150mln in revenues are guaranteed for a handful of millions in investments?

5 RepliesI honestly assume that the 3rd subclass will be awarded after the defeat of The Witness or finishing the campaign..it may seem like cope but if Bungie is really wanting this Story to be grand then the Story is gonna be the one thing they want you to focus on and nothing else…and then you get rewarded for doing so. BL and LF weren’t really good campaigns because they had your focus on the subclasses and the story, so I think they are trying to take a different approach similar to Witch Queen.

I can say, this was the first showcase that was totally underwhelming. Now, of course, Lightfall looked alright and well.... It wasn't. So I guess there's that. However I just simply don't trust Bungie at all. I purchased deluxe LF and haven't played it since maybe the first six missions at launch. Sure, I will probably pick it up and grind it this fall. That is my nature. However I just can't help but feel like this was a, uh, let me google some alternative names, flaccid member, of a showcase. Just totally phoned in. It is a shame because I actually like Blackburn. Maybe the most likeable Bungie face of Destiny in the history of the game, but holy heck does this seem like such an afterthought. It is almost insulting, if not for everything else this game has thrown at us the player.
