Hard nerf to ALL abilities/ability focused builds

Right now, the meta for all content is ability spam, whether that be for spamming healing or simply pure ad clear/damage potential This is mostly due to power creep and buildcrafting potential, where the variety of choice allows extremely sustainable builds to be made This is an issue because destiny should be an ability shooter, not a magic simulator with backup weapons. Until this is changed, the meta will always be abilities first with weapons strictly for DPS/ability spam Proposed fixes - return to d1 style of ability cooldowns, where there's basically no way of getting abilities instantly - greatly increase all cooldowns/make them more dependent on gunplay - reduce the ability for abilities to be self sufficient/spammable infinitely Key thing is that most new activities will need to be nerfed (in health, enemy count, and damage) to fit the weaker playerbase

  • D1 was still ability spammy, if not a little more if built right. You'd get hilariously large amounts of super per kill, and you can generally spam them without building into it at all. Voidwalker could get a full grenade and health back on grenade kill, as well as loop supers back to back. Sunsinger could give radiance to your whole fireteam for ultra ability spam, and self resurrection was simply game breaking. Stormcaller got their full melee back on grenade kill, full grenade back on melee kill, full melee on being hit by a melee, and their melee ability grants all ability energy. Striker has amplify, which grants hilarious amounts of super on melee. Thagomizers grants 2 melee charges and the amplify trait, which meant you could run the node that reduces cooldown. Sunbreaker has simmering flames, which granted a ton of ability regen for keeping super charged. Defenders bubble could generate 7 orbs of power for their allies. That's most of a super back. Gunslinger, unsurprisingly, was all about gunplay. Stability and reload on precision kills, or pick up ammo to grant your refundable throwing knife back. Not to mention the gunfighter perk, for an even faster super. Bladedancer could get constant invisibility, extendable super (even more so with mask of the third man). Nightstalkers have Shadowshot, which did a whole host of things. Orbs, multicast, stat bonuses, etc.
