SMS Validation NOT Working... HELP plz

I am a new player to destiny 2 and I purchased lightfall and completed the legendary campaign and I am starting the power level grind... however I noticed that in order to unlock pinnacle activites I need to validate my phone number with my account..., easy enough right? WRONG... I go to the page where I can validate... put in my cell number and click send code... nothing happens... ive tried everything I can think including accepting cookies, using a different browser, using different phone numbers, going on the D2 app... nothing works. I dont get how something so simple can be so hard to make work. Please share anything that I can try to fix this issue!!!! Thank you!
