The outcome of Trials games should not be affected by Power Level advantages.
The purpose behind the Power Level requirement is Trials is to...
1) Make it more difficult for cheaters to create new accounts
2) Prevent Sunset weapons from being used
3) Prevent inexperienced (New Light) players from joining
The current system does accomplish these goals, BUT it comes at a price.
I propose that we come up with a new system that accomplishes these goals without the negatives of the current system (listed below)
Negative 1 - Power Level advantages create inconsistent engagements when compared to every other Crucible mode. In a competitive mode like Trials, engagements should be as consistent as possible.
Negative 2 - The outcome of games is affected by Power Level and, by extension, a variety of other factors like Pinnacle RNG, time spent Raiding, and the number of active characters a player has.
The best suggestion I have seen is to increase the Power Level requirement to play Trials and remove Power Level advantages entirely.
I have seen plenty of other viable solutions, but I liked this one since it would require minimal changes to implement.

6 RepliesShould be put back into iron banner.

5 RepliesQuestion, Can a 1760 light manage in trials??? I dont have the time to farm pinnacles to to 1800
-
Just get to the 10 cap or whatever it is. Whatever is reccomended. Power doesnt matter above that, you arent at any advantage going above that power
-
Should have been removed same time they removed power from IB 🤷🏿♂️
-
I was still able to pull off 3 flawlesses being 20 below people

1 ReplyThe power level advantage literally doesn't matter. I am not a PvP main and I am able to get kills with the broken Traveler's Chosen against adept Target Lock Immortals. If you are decent at the game in general you can use sunset weapons or whatever and still win.

I love Crucible but didn't always. IB feels like non-pvp'ers getting massively frustrated with pro pvp'ers and I understand their frustration. For me Trials is Never enjoyable even when I win a round/match because they are almost always very very lopsided. Most of the maps feel too large for 3 v 3, just switching to a 4 v 4 would make most maps work better with the Res feature because most Trials Rounds are a YOLO slam dunk in under a minute. Agreed, doing away with Power Levels would be a step in the right direction.

Agreed. I shouldn’t have to punch someone three times while they only have to punch twice. Same reason there’s divisions and weight classes in all COMPETITIVE sports. That or rename trials for what it is…’trials of favor for those who have more time to play and get higher level’ or ‘trials of favor of the server’ 😂

1 ReplyNo sorry.

17 RepliesNot forgotten Revoker Mountain top Recluse if they removed power level thie would be the only thing you would be fighting
-
2 RepliesThat's how they keep majority of cheaters out of the play list. I get your sentiment but. It's just how it is

Edited by skf4: 3/28/2023 3:16:52 PMNo, it has to be applicable somewhere as to how hard you grind in Crucible & the game in general. Plus the difference is not game braking.
-
14 RepliesTwo things 1: Hackers 2: Sunsetting The level requirement has been the most effective means of combating both, and level difference doesn't make that much of a gap. Does a guy who's 1810 have a noticeable advantage over someone who's 1800? Not really. 140 Handcannons still 3-tap, etc. Does a guy who's 1800 have an advantage over someone who's 1750? Sure, but a 1750 player has no business in Trials. Level up, and 'then' play the endgame stuff, just like the rest of the endgame content.
-
13 RepliesGet gud lmao, not hard to level up honestly.
-
8 RepliesEndgame pvp. So you should go in after you've completed all the non endgame stuff, makes cheaters stay away from it, more or less.
-
1 ReplyThere should be a minimum power level to enter but power level shouldn’t matter in trials.
-
1 ReplyNot sure if there has to be a why, it’s just bungie rule for this mode. But you know that’s why I bought the DLC so can play trials and level faster through legend story lol.
-
3 RepliesIt combats cheaters who would get banned then make new accounts. Would be cheaters also need to own the latest expansion.
-
2 RepliesCause its endgame pvp...Iron banner should have its power level advantage turned on again...having idiots that just stepped foot in there run around like chickens its annoying when you have to win the match to rank up faster...if you are low level trials is not for you anyway if you choose to play you deal less damage....
-
2 Repliesit was to prevent hackers making new accounts quickly.
-
1 ReplySunsetting
-
4 RepliesOr just level up to 1800.
-
4 RepliesYou be okay just look forward to next season
-
2 RepliesTo make players grind powerlevel as in to keep players ingame grinding more
-
1 ReplyTo keep cheaters from being able to create a new account and be able jump right back in It's also why you have to own the last expansion released
