Field Marshall Kills Kat, Not A Zealot Nor A Jackal.
Title for Reference.
At the scene of the death of Kat, the individual that fires the fatal shot is in fact a Field Marshall. This is confirmed by Bungie in their Legendary Commentary referring to the Elite as ''the Zealot Commander''. So it's not a regular zealot and it's not a jackal as other people have been saying.
The fact that it is a Field Marshall, brings up an interesting theory. Could this be the same one we encounter at Visgrad Relay? Is it the same one with force of Zealots that killed Emile?
I belive so. I belive this Field Marshall has been stalking us during the whole campaign. Holding a grudge for Noble killing his team and damaging him.
Just wanted to clear that.

The Field Marshall has basically the same armor only with raised spikes on top and the same shoulders as the General.

Anyways, Thel was the Supreme Commander of the Fleet, a rank which i would belive is higher than a Field Marshall.

Looks like you see a Field Marshall 3 times, and get to fight him once, in the second last battle of the game. Anyone here think they're the same elite?

This means there are two ways that you are wrong. It is a zealot, not a field marshall, and they never specify whether or not it could be the leader even at that. And two, you don't necessarily kill it.

I thought the same thing. It seemed like the Field Marshall was acting like a kind of arch enemy, who you finally kill at the official last level, in his final attempt to stop Noble Team.

If he had killed them he wouldn't have gotten the mark of shame for killing 2 demons. Though I guess the destruction of Halo far out weighs the killing of 2 spartans.

If it is indeed the same Field Marshall who leads the Elites which killed Emile then it can't be Thel or Rtas because the player kills him on their way to the Mass Driver. (He's the guy with the Fuel Rod Cannon)
