When it comes to Exotic Armor the Lost Sectors are tuned to give you Exotics you don't have first.
So is Xur's engram, but only for World drop Exotics, not LS Exotics.
There's still RnG involved, but what you're asking for already exists.

Xur engrams [b]can[/b] give you any LS exotic, since its already in your collection. There isn't any solid way to farm a good one, LS can give you a group of exotic every day, but 99% of time you get the wrong one, and when you get what you want it comes with really bad stat rolls, it's RNG over RNG and over and over... and in a game where everything is destroyed for the sake of the wonderful PVP mode they should already have provided a healthier way to farm focused exotics.

Definitely not wrong. Bungie stated so in a TWAB awhile ago. For example, the only chest piece I was missing on my Hunter was Omnioculus. Waited until the LS was Chest, and did three runs. First exotic that dropped was Omni. There are eight chest pieces, seven of which I already owned. 12.5% if left to RnG. The LS and Xurs engrams will tilt the odds in your favor (for armor only. I should have said that earlier) to exotic armor pieces you do not have. Xur will only give you World drops. The LS will give you any Exotic armor released at Shadowkeep or later, assuming those are the last ones you need.

I live doing LS, and i can see how diry Bungie goes when we talk about RNG. First, your chance to get the new LS exotic is increased, and when you drop one usually comes with high stats (not the stats you want tho). And those exotic engrams both from xur and the world will give to you any exotic you got from your collection, including the LS ones.

You're correct on the Xur engram, as long as you've already had the LS exotic unlocked it becomes part of the world pool. I did some digging. The LS Exotics are "heavily weighted" to drop vs. repeat Exotics already in Collections. "Heavily weighted"--->Bungie's words, not mine

The best part is when Eternal Warrior drop almost all the time lmao, they always give the worst exotic, and i'm the one that play in all 3 characters and everyone got the same behaviour.

Are icefall mantles a world drop because I have grinded lost sectors and opened engrams and still am yet to get them, they’re the only exotic arms I’m missing

First time you need to farm from Lost Sectors, but isn't guaranteed.

As Tony said, i think at this rate for most players its a lot more about the stat rolls, not missing pieces of armor.

What he's asking for doesn't exist. He wants a way to target farm a particular exotic. My example of this... Recently I realised I had deleted my only roll of chromatic fire, and the collections is a 48 roll, which obviously I don't want. I wanted to create a build with it, so off I went to the last sector on chest day. 44 clears, I got pretty much every warlock chest except for the one I wanted. He is asking for a way to focus our farming to get a particular exotic.

Apologies for misgendering you, I'll never get used to using "they" instead of he or she. I did get a good one in the end, the next time it was chest day in the lost sector.

Most people I've met in my life didn't act like you and made someone including me feel angry, alienated and exhausted. But you acted differently. I think it won't be that difficult for you to adapt to development. It's soooooo glad. Your Chromatic Fire is the only good ending I've seen on this topic.
