For some it’s nostalgia, and to others it just evokes a “video game feel”. Then, of course, a lot of them just have good melodies, instruments aside. I know for me personally, whether or not a song is 16-Bit tends to have very little to do with whether I like it. Almost every 16-Bit song I’ve heard that’s been played on actual instruments I like just as well, and ther have been a lot of songs I like transitioned to 16-Bit that I’ve liked just as much as the original.

They just sound really good
