Why do people hate Shaw Han so much?
He's not my fave character but I don't think he deserves all that hate... I think he was just created to guide the new/returning blueberries through the New Light quest [i](and also being a key character for Gjallarhorn quest)[/i], I don't see anything bad on that.
Probably we haven't seen the true potential of Shaw Han as character yet.
But well, where is the hate coming from?

They are constantly being left out and made unimportant, when Bungie should find ways to include them more in the story, offering their particular insight. After a few missions with each introduced npc, they are just left to rot and waste space in the game. A good storyteller do not add characters to waste space - makes it feel not worth connecting to the characters.
