Just like in iron man 2, he goes to the bathroom in his armor [Edited on 10.26.2010 9:16 PM PDT]

Dont think they sleep other when they are forced in to cryosleep..after sleeping that long i doubt they need any rest for a long time. And yes they have their suit on when cryosleeping.

In the novels, S-117 states that he feels "exposed" out of his armor, and this is likely a sentiment shared with the other Spartans. Throughout the books, only three events come to mind where a Spartan fully removes his armor, and all involve S-117. 1. Removed to allow surgery for implant upgrade. 2. Not worn while debriefed by ONI on Reach after a mission in which engineers and a Forerunner crystal were encountered 3. Removed as per Major Silva's orders prior to a debriefing. Notably, in this last scenario, the armor is removed after sleep - he wakes up, removes his armor, perfroms various hygenic functions, and then goes to his briefing (the armor was removed so that Silva could have a psychologically even playing field, easier to talk to a man than a visor). So, do Spartans ever take off their armor? Yes. Do they enjoy it? No. Most likely, given the choice, the only time armor would be taken off would be for eating (helmet only), repairs, and modification.

In combat situations yes.
Posted by: XXXI2AMBEAST who gives a crap its a game play it and stop asking stupid questions
Wow... you took the time to leave a negative comment. Good for you. Anyways, I'm sure Spartans don't sleep as often as most people. Especially when there is work to be done. As for how they go to the bathroom... Good question, I'd just use your imagination.
Posted by: GhostRyderCA941 I'm sure it depends on where they are. Remember the Birth of a Spartan video? Those S-IIIs were in their night-wear while they slept. That's a question easily answered even with today's technology. Do Marines always sleep in full body armor? No, it depends on the situation. A soldier will always do what is necessary.
But Marines aren't encased in a huge powered suit of armor. I think they do, there is probably some function in the suit that increases the padding/gel inside so it is more comfortable to sleep in.

Plus, I recall reading that their augmentations would reduce the amount of sleep that they actually needed

if spartans need to eat and drink i can understand them taking off their helmet but it would take them like an hour to use the toilet because of their armor

As others have said, depends. Peacetime (or on a world with no combat risk, even from insurgents)? Most certainly out of armor, likely to only have it on in training sessions. Combat zone? Well, where? In the field, maneuvering to fight the enemy? Like any other soldier they will sleep in their armor. In a relatively safe base/bunker/similar? Again, depends. basically if there is no immediate or forseeable threat of fighting, chances are they will be out of their armor. It has to be serviced sometime afterall. Otherwise, depending on the situation, they may take some of it off to sleep, the parts they can quickly put back on, just like modern soldiers do with their web gear and boots.

I'm sure while in the field in high danger they slept with it on. Yes, in the beginning they needed assistance, however, after time, they learned how to exchange parts of their armor and I'm sure completely disassemble it. Think about it, don't you think the best professional soldier, who was issued the most expensive piece of equipment a soldier can get, would do everything necessary to know EVERY bit of detail about his equipment? Today, Marines are trained to be able to field strip their weapons blindfolded. I think the Spartans would know how to take off their own armor. [Edited on 10.26.2010 6:37 PM PDT]

well spartans aren't conventional soldiers, they dont just wear a bit of body armor, it's a half-ton exoskeleton. from what I remember from the books (which i read a loooooooong time ago so I may be mistaken) spartans require the assistance of a special technician and machine to remove and put on their armor, and it's a long process. so im just curious as to whether or not they do this every night and morning within the halo fiction.
