I play Destiny 2 on Xbox but my young grandson just started Destiny on his home built PC. He has a 21" screen and I would like to update his monitor as a Christmas present. I'm asking PC players for their assistance in deciding what would be the best choice for him. For example: Do I want 1080P 1440P, 4k? Size: 24" 27" 32"? Flat or curved? My budget will around $300.00 so keep that in mind in recommending a monitor. I appreciate any assistance the PC players can give me. Thanks in advance.

Do you know the specs of their PC (computer parts). You don't want to get a high resolution monitor if they don't have the parts to run it well.

1 ReplyTo me the difference between 1080 and 1440 is huge. I’d go with 1440 27”

2 RepliesThe questions of the monitor How good is the pc build? For $300 you would be looking for what that particular pc can do in the now. To get into 4K with great refresh rates and low latency.. you would be in the $1,000+ For me.. The most important aspect of my desired monitor.. Refresh rates and latency. I enjoy all of destiny and I absolutely love the ultrawides for the immersion A moving image with a resolution of 1080p moving at 140-240fps looks far better than 4K at a low refresh rate.. If your friend is a tryhard PvP player.. the above is very important but typically said players do not like ultra wide screens due to the resources needed. If they just love the game.. and with your budget.. I would recommend this VIOTEK GNV30CBXA 30-Inch 200hz Ultrawide Curved Gaming Monitor 1080p 21:9 VA Panel w/ 112% sRGB, FreeSync & GSYNC Ready, HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort, Audio Out, VESA — 3 Years Zero Dead Pixels This is what I have and I love it. Although I do not recommend free sync.. it cleans up the picture even more but at a cost of more latency. This does not have hdr and max resolution is 1080p But colors are solid. I have had mine for two years and no issues at all.

Unfortunately the answer is mostly ‘it depends’. Do you have system specs/any size restrictions?

Edited by A_mo: 10/3/2021 2:59:42 PMI don't play on PC but most of the answers to those questions would be determined by how much your grandson plays PvP vs. how much he plays PvE. If he plays PvP a lot 1080 or 1440 and 24" or 27"(at that price point you may be able to get higher frames per second, which is what you'd want for PvP) if he plays mostly only PvE 4k and 27" or 32". Those are just rough suggestions its actually more down to personal preference and with the fact that the newer consoles are closer to being PCs there's not much difference between what someone's going to want to play on other than 1440 isn't a good choice for PS as far as I know.
