RGB Color Values for Reach

Guys this is kind of off topic and i am relatively new here but does anyone know where i can get the RGB color values for the in game armor colors. The reason i ask is I am painting an ODST helmet and I want it to be accurate to my in game character (i.e. Steel with a white stripe). I know the steel isn't black but I don't just want to go and buy some near black metallic color and hope for the best when i could match it exactly. Any thoughts or tips are welcome.

  • You could surmise it off a calibrated display. Or, well, screengrab the armor in fairly neutral lighting, correct the whitepoint in post and then print it to a calibrated printer.

  • Thanks for the quick reply. I do a lot of 2d texture work for games so i'm familiar with in game colors being dramatically different to rl ones based on monitors etc. I have a pretty simple system for working out which colors on my TV match up with ones in real life (so at least it looks like what i see on my TV) but it does require the RGB values. It's ashame they haven't give us the values but i guess i'll post up in the right forum once i have some colors and get a bunch of opinions before proceeding further!

  • I don' think anyone really knows. Must be a Bungie trade secret.

  • Okay, this is the thing... The community (including myself) has been begging for the Master Chief RGB color value for years now (I even managed to PM 'Frankie' about it). with no no answer. Your best bet is just to go buy some paint which looks the same, print pictures and compare. Remember, the colors in real life WILL be DRAMATICALLY more different then in-game. Just by setting your monitors colors will change the color. So just go out and buy some paint, the RGB color in-game might actually not be even close to the real life colors. EDIT: There is a forum-area for Bungie Universe and The Flood. [Edited on 10.22.2010 7:08 AM PDT]
