Guardian Stories B1, House of Witches. Part 5: Sunset Walk

Their ship reach the rendezvous site, sun was beginning to get low in the sky, they didn't have to much light left in the day. Akain could see out the ships window a small group of people were gathering next to a large standing stone protruding from the atop a hill. There ship slowed slightly and dived a little, both Akain and Adam stood once again and seconds later were teleported just above the ground at the bottom of the hill and landed on both feet. Akain turned his head to watch the ship come out of the dive and rocket towards the horizon, It disappeared in moments. By the time he turned back Adam was half way up the hill, Akain jogged to catch up to him. So now that the slow ones have finally showed up, mind telling us the plan? They heard Yuri's impatient voice break the silence that must have lingered for a while. Akain and Adam reached the top, to see Yuri was talking to the Hive Specialist, she was sitting on what looked like a stone throne that was ornately carved in the hills protruding stone. The stranger was Awoken and a Hunter, she had dark skin for an Awoken but her eyes, unlike any Akain had seen, they were bright, but when she looked at you, it was like she could see you, all of you, your life, your lies, your secrets. She stayed quiet, looking deeply into the newcomers eyes. Adam looked away, averting his eyes to look at the ground. But Akain looked back his bright eyes to hers, they looked at each other for a few seconds then she spoke. My name is Eve, I am the Hive Specialist, I was requested to run this strike with you by Ikora. Your the Fallen Specialist, correct? She directed her answer to Akain. Yes, I am. He said with confidence, he may not be the best fighter here, but he was one of a few dozen Guardians who fully studied the Fallen and the culture of the Eliksni. Good, the rest of you are pretty much bodyguards for this mission, our job is to infiltrate the Fallen and Hive base to find out the how and why this has happened. Yuri's voice broke out again in frustration, so why have we met up here? I don't see the Ketch anywhere? Couldn't we have just... No, Eve cut her off. Yuri, looked like she could shoot her right now. We go by foot, we don't want to alert our enemies in any shape or form. Eve continued. The Ketch is 5 kilometres east of here, when we get within visual range we wait for the sun to set and then we get in, steal any information and data we can get our hands on. Gear up, we leave in five minutes, Eve finished. There was a sudden bustle of movement, even Yuri couldn't argue she had direct orders, Akain thought Yuri might be slightly intimidated by the Specialist she would usually crack a joke or maybe question the orders further. He and Adam walked down the hill back to the ship, Adam whispered from the side of his mouth, she's something isn't she, wonder if she would like to go for diner sometime. Akain smiled but punched Adams arm to get him to behave, It hurt Akain more than it hurt him. They had geared up, Akain had only taken his sidearm with him, he thought It would be useful as it was suppressed. It wasn't just him though Yuri had taken a supressed pulse rifle and more knifes than normal for her. Viola an auto rifle and a shotgun, Robert a sniper rifle and a hand cannon, Adam shotgun and a sidearm and Eve had an hand cannon. They all wore dark colours of green and brown which oddly enough was a requirement, it would help them blend in especially when it got dark. Without a word, Eve turned and began to walk, they all followed her lead. No words were spoken for the first half hour, they moved at good pace and by his guess would be there in just over thirty more minutes. Yuri walked along side him, Akain and Yuri with there shorter legs trailed behind a good half dozen metres. The sun was just setting behind the horizon, the sky was trailed with orange clouds, it looked beautiful, in a few weeks the snow would come and cover this whole area. Akain? Yuri asked softly. You alright? He replied slightly concerned, she seemed nervous. I have a bad feeling about this, the specialist, Eve. She's hiding something, I know because I've done it before, hunter to hunter, she's not telling us everything. In all honestly, he thought it had been strange usually Fireteam leaders would be open about the mission, they want it to go well as the rest of them. But Akain didn't mistrust Eve. Like hunter to hunter, Akain had a bond with Eve, they were both Awoken. Her eyes didn't speak any lies, it was more like, a warning. The sun had set and light was slowly fading, Akain could see light emanating from over the next hill. We're here, Eve announced. They all crowded together, here's the radio channel we will be using to keep our talk private, frequency 174.17, they all switched to it. Right lets see what's in store for us, Eve said over the radio and climbed up the hill, they followed close behind her. They reached the top and Akain looked out onto a large area of ground full Fallen and Hive forces. He could see Fallen engineers building what seemed to be a huge Walker tank, on further inspection he could see Witches enchanting and using there magic on the large mounted weapon on the back. Oh my god, Akain said, he knew that they were scouting a raid mission but only now he realised with all his power he could do nothing to stop this. His whole team could try but they were hundreds, no... thousands of combined Fallen and Hive forces. He was afraid, he could feel his body shake with fear but then remembered his home, the people at the market, the bakers, the people. He couldn't let this harm anyone, I will protect them, Akain thought to himself. Akain looked around for any way they could easily approach the Ketch when he seen a banner nearby, warning anyone who came near. It had a unknown Fallen House of it, mixed with Fallen and Hive symbols. The Fallen text translated to, The House of Witches. Writers note: I'm frustrated that I had to do even more set up for the actual mission, I really wanted to get it started, but I think it was important to set up the characters further and also introduce the main problem in the story. The Fallen/Hive Tank, to explain it further it would be roughly four times larger than a normal one, bullets ain't stopping that thing. I also wanted to give the reader that this isn't just a simple mission and theres more to meet the eyes. But you'll have to wait and see. Finally a big shout out to KS27, Splash and Springer for your support, I've never shared anything that I have written before even though I have been writing for six or seven years. I hope my spelling and my writing is clear and understandable. Thank you everyone!
