We are told to protect these wannabee soldiers from dieing, however even if they do die it has no effect on the mission at all, so whats the real incentive for saving them?

there's a sense of acomplishmment for saving em all. that is the prize. their prize was a bullet to the head for making me think i was gonna get rewarded. killing them. THAT was my prize. [Edited on 10.18.2010 11:46 AM PDT]

there's an incentive to save them? I gave one a 1 ammo sniper and he killed the other civilians
-
You get rockets, snipers, and DMRs if you save at least one of them.
-
becasue they show you a path to get around the locked door...ya i know you are tolds about the path anyway but it would have been cool if you didn't save them the game made you take a longer path or something

Other than a small boost to your in-game karma...
Posted by: S2 Black 0ut There are small weapons crates that open if you manage to save atleast one civilian.
Because they have some delicious brownies to share with you. Right out of the oven!
Posted by: Astartes Marine
Posted by: Mr Krull I gave all of them snipers and they killed me while I was assassinating an elite, I gave one rockets and he tried to shoot a phantom but he shot the wall next to him instead. combat effective rofl!
Ever since Halo 2, the AI has always been terrible when given rockets and are on foot. I always let them take on the hunters and loot their ammo after I gave them DMRs and ARs and it usually works out just fine.
Actually, there's more incentive to let them die. Free Sniper and DMR ammunition. P.S. You can still open the crates without the humans. [Edited on 10.18.2010 11:38 AM PDT]

You can open crates yourself, they kill you and themselves, and they are cannon fodder, best to leave them behind! And if they die Kat talks to jorge who has the same info as the civvies
Posted by: S2 Black 0ut There are small weapons crates that open if you manage to save atleast one civilian.
In my experience from yesterdays challenge, those crates will open anyway if you walk up to them with or without the militia.
Posted by: S2 Black 0ut There are small weapons crates that open if you manage to save atleast one civilian.
Or if you just walk up to them
Posted by: S2 Black 0ut There are small weapons crates that open if you manage to save atleast one civilian.
All you have to do is walk up to them and stand there for a second and they open anyway. The only reason to save the militia group is fictional. Kat says that they may have information that could be useful to you. Gameplay wise, it makes no difference if they die.

i give them rockets and snipers...they usefull then!. also to be a nice guy/girl
Posted by: Astartes Marine They're humans. you can open the weapon crates with ought them, they are just cannon fodder whom if you give a rocket launcher will blow stuff up for you...
-
I enjoy the little chat when they give us weapons. That's my incentive I guess.
-
They're humans. Plus they can be given decent weapons to make them more combat effective.
-
I agree there should be some reward for it but the kindness of your heart should count ppl.
-
To be a hero in the eyes of a desperate person
