Verify integrity of game files

I have been having this issue for a while now, i have not been able to play at all. I have gone through the usual steps to try and fix it but i can never get past the character selection screen. At this point I am more interested in what causes this problem as all the fixes do nothing.

  • Any updates on why this happens? I got it working with the new beyond light update for a few mins before it happened again. I was getting 40 ish fps when it worked. Goes to show that it does indeed run but not why the Verify Game files error comes up. Any chance some one from bungie can comment on this? Last time it was a bunch of people who clearly dont have a clue.

Hey, The following does not fix the issue with your hardware; if this is the issue, but instead saves you time with Steam. For me, these "Verify Integrity..." errors had to do with RAM, but it's different for everyone. If it's RAM related, and you are tired of doing a verify integrity in Steam, you can do this to make thing easier: 1. Run a full integrity verify in Steam, and copy the "packages" folder and it's newly verified contents, and place in a different location. NOTE: It should be about 91.6 GB. 2. Almost every time this Steam verify integrity error occurs, it will mention a "w64_******.pkg" file being corrupted. This file was currently loaded when the error occurred. I am pretty sure there's nothing wrong with the file, but you need to run an integrity verify in Steam to avoid this error. 3. To see which file had an issue (our currently loaded) when loading content, go to the D2 crash folder: C:\Users\*user_name*\AppData\Local\Temp\Destiny 2\crash_folder\pc_x64 4. You should see folders with a bunch of digits. Sort by date, and open each folder and there should be a text file called crash-something. Further down in the text, there should the mentioning of a "w64_********.pkg" file. (you can search for "w64_" in search to find it. 5. This file and/or other w64 files, should be removed from the Destiny 2 installation folder. Now replace those files with the backup files you did after the initial verify integrity, in Steam. Just copy paste, one file at the time, from backup to installation folder. 6. Reason for this is so you no longer need to verify the integrity through the entire installation folder in Steam. This takes about 20 mins for me; copy paste the "error file" and pasting takes seconds. This saves time, basically, and has the same effect as doing the Steam verify. NOTE: If you have several error folders in your crash folder, you should go through all of them and find the file in EACH folder, and copy paste from backup to the installation folder. Also, delete the original file BEFORE copy pasting. Just to make sure. -------------------- - If you have an error that mentions nothing of a "w64_*******.pkg" file, you had an issue with your GPU, most likely. - You should download the latest Driver for your GPU. Also, try and lower ALL graphics settings to Lowest and/or OFF settings. Try lowering "Render Resolution", also. Just to test and see how much improvement you get. You are using: Intel(R) Iris(R) Plus Graphics as a GPU. Look up Intel support for it. - Also look into your page file usage. You have 16GB of RAM, but see what can be changed about your page file usage. ---------- NOTE: If you don't delete and then copy/paste (replace) from the backup folder, you will very likely get the same error in the same place again. I got this verify error loading into crucible games, and restarted anyway to try , and I got the same error in the same place repeatably. Just replace the file that the crash folder mentions, and at least the error should not be in the same place. Good luck!

  • Hey there! Could you paste your DxDiag here? You can find this by doing the following:
• Press (Windows Key + R) to bring up the Run dialog box, enter this command “dxdiag” without quotation marks. • Click on “Save all information”. • Copy the text and use a text dump website (i.e. PasteBin.com) to paste the information. • Create a link and post it here.
