Armor Does Not Power Creep - Remove Armor Sunsetting

An argument for weapon retirement is one thing...but armor? There is no power creep for armor. What is the average TTK for a helmet? We spent hours to get the guns and armor that we wanted, but armor is more complex because of stats. Meaning it's even harder to get the armor that you want. At least respect our time with armor. Stop trying to force players to do an endless grind. All you did was add the exact same guns with a new season stamp on it. Time should be spent doing fun and challenging (No Bullet Sponges) activities. Some old content is just boring and can be vaulted....enough with the ball throwing. Other old content isn't necessarily bad, it's just never updated. They are unrewarding. Why don't you add new armor/ weapons to raids? Why not add strike specific armor? A gun doesn't have to be more powerful, just make it more interesting. If the community has plenty of guns and armor, why not just update, fix (much needed), or add new activities. But I digress… don't sunset armor. If you agree in any way, please upvote. If you don't agree... go ahead and delete all your weapons and armor and enjoy the grind. Edit 1: Post is getting traction with over 300 votes! Thank you everyone. Maybe bungie will pay more attention if pre-orders for next season go down as well?? But that's your choice. Edit 2: Now over 500! Thanks everyone. If you want, let friends know to upvote if they agree. 😀

  • Yes! Get rid of sunsetting! It’s a bad idea and they know it! Armor is crucial for character stats with too much RNG in place and too much of a grind to consider farming for armor once you have your character the way you want it. If they’re going to go through with it, then make it so that we don’t have to throw away our armor set up.

  • I don't know man. Using a full set of Notorious Invader armor in Crucible might be a little too OP.

    • I mean if they out the outrageous upgrade requirements for armor it would be a fair trade but i doubt they would take of enhancement shit off armor

    • Agreed. But.... People need to realise that the players and the player experience are not Bungo's top priorities, probably not even top 10. If they remove armour sunsetting, how will they be able to sell people the same ornaments again!?! Why would they add new pieces of armour to strikes or raids when they can sell the look in EV!?! Sunsetting is lazy, and greedy, as befits a dev with no ability. That's Bungie!

    • Completely agree with this I have the full trials gear on all characters from season 10 and it flips me off that the same trials gear this season is exactly the same look but with an arrival stamp on it and a higher power infusion what’s the point of me fully masterworking the season 10 gear when this season is the same it really annoys me

Technically mods do more for player power than the weapons do as do exotics which are not getting sunset. And the subclasses. Power creep referenced in this game came from Well of Radiance, for example. They dealt with it to some extent. If they sunset the weapons that did cause power creep, wed just be losing some exotics and some pinnacles. That's it. It's just about getting you to keep replaying dull content.

    • wake-up call: Bungie is a company! their goal is, to make money! and the best way to do so is to sell the same stuff to the same people over and over again.... it is called capitalism... things in real life are build to work only for a certain period of time, so that you have to buy a new one... as this will not happen naturally in a video game, it is done artifitionally -> sunsetting Power creep was always only a blinding granade...

    • Agree. The reasons given for gear retirement by Bungie just don't add up when given even the most brief of second looks.

      • Hell most weapons dont. Why must mini tool go because bungie made recluse too good? Power creep can be solved with balance patches. Nuking the arsenal of the game is being done so bungie can bring back old guns and call it new content.

      • Super bump. It takes so long to get the builds you want. By the time you have the stats in the right spots you have a month to use it.

        • As a casual player who doesn't even build craft or chase stats, this is still dumb. It's gonna cost an arm and a leg to transmit, so I'll never be able to wear armor sets I enjoy and will be forced to wear seasonal armor that's the highest power for raids/dungeons. Sunsetting is such a dumb move

          • I agree but I think all weapon sunsetting is bad. My favorite primary is a junky 140 RPM hand cannon that I farmed from menagerie and have used religiously since. Now think of the hours everyone has put into earning pinnacle weapons and grinding for their personal god rolls weapons and it’s hitting like a slap in the face for the hours wasted to get a gun that is nearly always in your lineup. It doesn’t matter that I can still use it on patrol or in non pinnacle situations. It’s my Guardians favorite gear. It’s the Ace of Spades to my Cayde-6. I fought RNG to get something I enjoy using in every activity. Now I have to wait for them to maybe reissue it and try to get a version of it I like again? I hate facing recluse, not forgotten, mountain top, and the rest in PvP but normally it’s because the person put serious effort into being rewarded with a great gun.

              • ironically, sunsetting armour makes more sense than sunsetting weapons based on bungie's own definition of power creep. essentially, our armour ARE stat sticks. they mean nothing other than to fulfill a number rating that seemingly goes higher every season. thats how freaking backwards there on philosophy is on what power creep is.

Sunsetting was never about powercreep. Its about artificially inflating player time. If powercreep existed exotics would need to be sunset too and they wouldnt be reissuing the same weapons. Sunsetting is to reskins, reissue and rotate arsenals. Armor sunsetting is because people accepted sunsetting so they are now doing it to armor to sell it back to you as transmogs. And content vaulting is the same thing.

                        • The argument that can be made for armor sunsetting is in part the same as weapons... that is what's the point of going for other armor sets once you've obtained the perfect set? There us no incentive especially with transmog coming and the current ornament system! I think also it gives them a chance to put in some different mods knowing that the gear set they can be applied to will go away eventually.

The reason this might not get more upvotes is because the playerbase is evaporating faster then 90% Alcohol on a hot summer day.............. When you have no playerbase who gives a s h i t why would you want to visit the forums?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? they don't visit they leave FOREVER and find better things to do. Most won't come back if they continue down this path of GO WOKE GO BROKE DUMB F U C K S.

                            • I would imagine there’s an expiry on armour because of seasonal mods. Also a way to phase out armaments. No incentive to chase new armour when you can hold on to the best armour from cherry picked seasons to use.
