I’ll use Ambition this time.
Ambition enters the bar. The door practically launches open, though there is no sound nor stirring. His movements are paradoxically hard to notice.
He crosses the establishment and, by the whimsical twisting of his own fate, lands at the same table Luck had taken previously.

“Hello, I’ll need a Name, what you’ve been doing recently, and I’ll need your order!” Blaze says as he walks over.
-
The voice that comes out is deep and smooth, yet amiable. It carries the tone of one comfortable enough in his craft to relax and enjoy what he can. “Name’s Ambition, and...well, “recently” is a difficult term—quite subjective, I’d say. Time passes in strange ways, where I come from. And as for what I’ve been doing... I’ve been running some errands.” He runs his hand over the back of his knuckles as he thinks of a drink. He knew Luck liked to chug Mana Elixirs up the wazoo, but his power was external, and thus he had little need for the concoction. “I think I’ll have... Kyne Petal tea.” His request was almost a challenge. Kyne petals were exceedingly hard to acquire, equally difficult to diffuse, and the tea they made had powerful mnemonic properties that break a mind purely through recollection. It was typically used by powerful magic-users while meditating for days on end.
-
“Damn, I’m not running a housing surface, but with Luck chugging the mana elixir, I’d say same boat.” Blaze was lucky enough to be able to make just one cup. He hands it to Ambition. “So, how have these errands gone?”
-
“Fairly well. There was one mad scholar who ended up summoning a powerful aberration before I arrived, which caused quite an imbalance and a deal of work on my part. Other than that, though, it’s been smooth sailing recently.” He sips the tea and his eyes get slightly brighter. He exhales, and his breath can be seen as though bitterly cold. Ambition feels the cold of the tea spread into his lungs like a breath of fresh, fresh air.
-
“Hm. Imbalance you say. How have you personally been, then?”
-
Edited by Sylver: 4/29/2020 3:22:17 AMHe lets out a deep breath, sips his tea. “Sometimes inner balance is just as difficult as outer. To balance not only the emotions but the mind is something practically impossible to perfect. “Sometimes the work gets to you, no matter what meditative thinking processes you use. It’s good to have a place like this to rest and reflect.”
-
“Yeah.” Blaze then said to himself “with this work, I’m kinda glad I didn’t take the job. Specially if something I want to do causes imbalance.” He then goes back to Ambition, “So, it’s been rougher for you?”
-
Ambition waves his hand dismissively. “Everything takes its toll...” He trails off. He thought that, to maintain balance, he had to not feel the negative feelings, to become perfectly calm. But he remembers, once, seeing Lord Sylver from afar, head bowed and solemn. Maybe it’s okay to feel. Maybe it’s right. The fallen deserve to be mourned, and tragedy deserves sorrow. Balance cannot be forced, just as emotions cannot. They must be accepted.
-
“Hey, buddy?” Blaze waves his hand in front of Ambition’s face. “You okay?”
-
Ambition blinks, letting out another frosted breath. “Yeah, just... thinking.”
-
“Okay you just kinda seem..... out of it.....”
-
He shrugs. “Maybe so. Maybe the opposite. Maybe it’s impossible to detach from everything. Maybe you’ve just got to accept it.” Ambition sits silent for a moment before straightening. “Well, damn! That got existential fast. Probably the tea. Anyways, I trust things are well on your end?”
-
“Yup, everything’s been good! Might turn on the radio later
INTENSE FORSHADOWING
but I’ve been good.”
-
“Mmh. It’s been quite some time since I’ve sat back and listened to the radio.”
inb4 chaos ensues
-
It has, I’m just considering this conversation to happen before it all happens.
“Hm. You can hear some good music, but I’m looking for these weird transmissions that have apparently been coming in.”
