Is 64 levels too much of an advantage? is there any point me trying to compete against a player as high as 1029 in Trials of Osiris even if I hit all shots perfectly am I still doomed?
Has your play testers been using any under powered characters to test how fun it is to be annihilated over and over, believe me it's not fun, I found this out in the previous Iron Banner?
Thing is I don't have the time to raid and complete pinnacle events (I did complete Iron Banner bounties though)
Will this be like a lion attacking a Rhino?
Genuine question of concern guys, just want to know where I stand with competing.

9 RepliesNo reason to not be above 970 when trials launches. Even prime engrams get you to 970.

I'm kind of hoping they changed the light advantages from what it currently is so it's a slight advantage not a big one.

Genuine question, are you the lion or the rhino in this analogy? Is one of those animals supposed to be considered vastly stronger than the other? Because I imagine a lion and a rhino getting into it would be a pretty close match.

The difference is D1 had a light level cap. You couldn’t go past the cap until a new DLC rolled out. With d2 the seasonal artifact has no cap. So someone out there can just farm light level until they are 100 light levels above you. Then they could body shot you with a high impact sniper with no damage buffs in trials. I am fine with light level being a thing as long as there is a cap. They said they wanted trials to be fair and balanced but that rich guy that has no responsibilities or that streamer that it is their job to play can just farm light level. There should be a 10-30 light level range and cap each season.

2 RepliesPinnacle events will only pad your power level by 10 points. For example, this season's soft cap is 960. The hard cap is 970 - that is as high as your base power level will get from doing pinnacle events (i.e. the highest possible weapon or armor power level for the season). Anyone you see who is 1000+, that is 100% the artifact and the start of the next season they will be knocked back down to the new season's soft cap of 970 (or less if they haven't hit the hard cap). You will at least be able to play trials competitively (from a power level perspective) for a little while before they start boosting XP. Same goes for the first couple Iron Banner events. Those levels are not possible day 1 or even week 1 of the new season. It will take weeks (maybe even months) for them to get back up to those levels.

Edited by Sarah Rose: 2/27/2020 1:19:55 PMAccording to a graph that Bungie released to show power advantages in Iron Banner, a deficit of 100 power equals you deal 20% less and take 20% more damage. However, a deficit of only 10 power translates to 10% less dealt and 10% more taken. So it's hard to calculate.

Based on the current damage values, you would get crushed being that many levels apart. However, the damage values in the video didn't match any of the current PvP damage values & gives no indication how it's actually going to work or balance out with player levels.

2 RepliesIf you are 15 levels below someone you will be significantly disadvantaged. 60 levels below don’t even try.
-
You do 15% less damage and take 15% more.

there was a ironbanner week where you had the option (emblem) to decrease your light level and play for the emblem - i did it; it was easy to get the kills ... the the 64 difference should not be a problem; if it is - just play the game. pve AND pvp
