  • When I was 14, my freshamn year in high school. I was on the football team, and it was the first day of our off season work outs and whatnot. They had this big thing planned for that day, the freshman, JV and Varsity players all interacted together. There were a bunch of obstacle courses to go through. This one course, was this set of monkey bars. I don't really know how to explain how it is, but the thing was tall. More than 10 feet tall. Two teams were up against each other. Each player had to climb up the side and reach the top, and while hanging from there, had to slide their way across to the other end ( i know, sounds dumb). Well, the biggest guy on each team was exempt, and only had to run the length of it, instead of trying to get up there. I was about 230-240 at the time, and there was a guy bigger than me on my team. So I had to get up there, and I had no upper body strength at the time. a couple coaches had to help my ass up there. So I'm hanging at the top, and I lose my grip and fall. I land at an angle, and break my ankle. Snapped both my Fibula and Tibia just above the ankle, and managed to break the growth plate, as well as dislocate my ankle. The snap was really loud, and I heard people look at me and could hear everyone yelling to get help and call 911. I was wondering what was going on. I felt funny, like I was in a daze. I was in shock and i hadn't looked down yet, but my ankle felt as if it was on fire. I looked down and saw my ankle was a few inches to the left of where it should be, and I fell to the ground screaming. Paramedics came and put my ankle in a splint and took me to the hospital. I had surgery that night. I have a lot of screws in my ankle. This was a real painful experience. This morning, i walked into my room. I have a low, platform bed made of wood. Each corner of my bed is really pointy and I walked in a managed to kick the very corner of the frame to where my ankle bone hit as hard as it could. The pain hurt almost as bad as the day I broke it.
