I'm usually disappointed at finding out how something works in game versus how it was described by Bungie. There's usually an undisclosed gotcha. The latest for me is the gunsmith repeatable bounties. It sounded great, more opportunities to get cores. Then I find out all you get is XP, no cores. What's the point? There's plenty of XP sources.
It may be convenient if you happen to get a repeatable bounty for the same weapon type as a regular gunsmith bounty. Then they can be done at the same time with almost no additional effort. But it's still disappointing.

Edited by Swiftlock: 12/18/2019 5:51:26 PMI think the bigger issue with armor is that Bungie expects us to grind for a new armor set that suits our playstyle while keeping the gunsmith's masterwork materials so damn expensive. ... oh, and that armor will likely be obsolete next season. I'm okay with grinding for new gear. That's what the game is all about, but armor shouldn't be so obnoxious to masterwork if Bungie is going to keep making our sets outdated.

1 ReplyEdited by Kouz_MC: 12/16/2019 6:12:53 PMBoring grind as a means to compensate for the lack of content. Easy bait on players obsessed with power level.

Unfortunately this is the "vision" for Destiny. How can we slow down players to a crawl so we don't have to create anything innovative.

2 RepliesEdited by Cosmic Owl: 12/17/2019 3:57:28 PMCores are pretty easy to come by between bounties, matter weave, deconning, spider (a cheap 3 per day) and NFs. I wouldn’t expect them to give out cores on repeatable bounties. It’s just a way to complete the weekly faster or more to your weapon preference. They function the same as all other repeatables and why wouldn’t they?
-
1 ReplyCores ain't exactly hard to get, don't see the issue personally.
-
As long as we keep getting cores for the non-random ones.
-
Bungie replied, basically saying GOTCHA!!!!!!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🖕🏼🖕🏼🖕🏼🖕🏼🖕🏼
-
No bright dust=not worth doing. For me anyway. The other repeatable bounties give dust.
-
1 ReplyWhy does the post say Bungie replied but I can't see a reply from them?

1 Reply😂😂😂😂😂😂 Oooohhhhh Dad, You really thought there was going to be a legitimate easy grind for cores? A dependable source of core consumption? You really thought Bungie was going to install a back door exit from pointless activity grinding - not knowing how many, if any, cores you can accumulate in a gaming session? I’m sorry, but it’s funny. Don’t worry, I won’t spoil the whole “Santa” thing for you. Because it’s Christmas.

4 RepliesThey added the XP only bounties to try to get casual players a faster path to completing goals. If you look at the completion rate for Season of the Undying... it was pretty weak. People, other than hard core players, can't or will not devote extensive time to D2. I am retired... so I have a lot of free time, and happen to one only 3 or 4 in my clan that can invest significant time into D2. A good game design has multiple paths to the same end point. D3 will need this approach to be a great game. For example, Raiders get to top tier faster, because they raid, casuals get there slower because they do bounties, open world, etc. But both groups get to the same tier. D1 was a bit more flexible and reasonable with this idea of multiple paths to the same goal, i.e. maximum power level for example. But with D2, Bungie has only a very restrictive, mechanics, and limited path to the final goal. This is what many hate about D2 now. Why was this done? Costs... it costs more up front to develop the multiple path scenario. Ever notice that no matter how big the open world areas are in D2, they are not as populated as D1 was, ignoring the scale issues with the old 360 platform of course. D1 you could literally just play the open world and get to max light... until Bungie started restricting player options, and constantly changing the meta, the currency, etc.

It should he gunsmith materials so we can buy his overpriced engrams.

Edited by Tahllinavian: 12/16/2019 11:46:36 PMI knew the repetables wouldn't have anything other than exp, considering how the other repeatables work, not that I don't wish they gave better rewards. Now I wouldn't mind this if you could take multiple repeatables at once like other bounties, but you can't which is dumb and seems like a way to purposely increase wait time, travelling back and forth from the long ass tower load screen just to get a single bounty.
-
Yeah, there is always a catch with Bungie.
-
I told everyone the core economy was bad last year, and all i got was filthy casual. You can do these bounties in 5 minutes, and more personal attacks and lies. I started before that really when it was just scrapper bounties.
-
i'm stocking up on cores, but would like lower costs to buy prisms and Ashards.
-
16 RepliesIt says on the extra bounties that its only XP .. Why would you think you would get cores out of them?
-
I think the repeatable banshee bounties should drop a random gunsmith weapon for each one completed.
-
3 RepliesI'm not necessarily disagreeing with your point but I think you may misunderstand the use of that saying. When someone says "every cloud has a silver lining" it's not referring to something that looks good but in practice isn't, it's talking about how there's always good in unexpected places. The right saying for this scenario would be to call it "gilded".

1 ReplyEveryone gets a core, you get one, he gets one, she gets one. Core are not that hard to get. Unless you are special needs.
-
2 RepliesNot only that but they cost 3,000 glimmer each which is absurd when all you’re getting is XP.
-
8 RepliesIndeed. I had thought I could rack up a good 20 to 30 cores a day with these repeatable bounties, but apparently not.
-
2 RepliesNot as disappointing as having to run the same scout rifle, pulse rifle, sniper rifle, bow, linear fusion and rocket launcher bounties over and over and over again...
-
If someone is going for that all important goal of getting to 1000 Power they’re probably invaluable. For the rest of the 99.9% of players it’s just disappointing.
-
1 ReplyI think it was intended as a catch up mechanic to help low light players complete the gunsmiths powerful reward in 1 day rather than grinding out 2-3 days worth of bounties.

BDF are here for some fresh grass I see. 🐑
