Failure of Communication from Devs/Community Managers

The Dev team or Community Managers should have communicated to the player base that they were planning on only allowing the seasonal mods to only be applied to that current seasonal armor. Much of the community, understandably, invested a lot of materials into armor with the assumption that they would be able to insert new seasonal mods into the “seasonal mod slot”. This failure of communication has upset and disappointed a large amount of community members. This needs to be addressed soon.

  • This was expected. That doesnt make it OK, but I knew this would be an issue. It was pretty easy to work out that this was the road they were heading down since the mod slots themselves were specifically called a season of undying mod slot instead of being given a more general name. We also had precedent. We werent able to use menagerie mods on seasonal armor, we couldn't use previous raid mods on new armor despite updating them to the new system. This is why I refused to grind for stats on anything except armor I would explicitly use for pvp, since seasonal mods have little to no effect in pvp (so far). If I find what I want in the course of normal play, great. Otherwise I won't waste my time on something that, by it's very nature, becomes obsolete in a few months. Bungie created a problem by making a system that simultaneously wants you to spend time creating a perfect build, AND wants you to replace that build with new content before you've even finished it.

      • I find it endlessly funny that they essentially spelled this out for us, both in-game and through the Dawn stream, and even at the very start of Shadowkeep, that the seasonal slots were for only that season, and that you'd need to get new armor for the new mods. All that and yet only now are people complaining. You had an entire season to give them feedback, guys. Bit late to start now.

They also showed it off in the stream. The only one who’s failed in this situation is you.

I feel like if I were them, I would use my free time to really engage with the players and get ideas. I mean, I'm playing the game too. idk, Wishful thinking. I'm here too much anyway, I wanna help lol. Might need to drop the arguing I can do, don't think you can call someone out for being an asshole when they truly are being one.

It won't be addressed because they just won a trophy for their "effort". Reddit has a thread loaded with kickasses about it. Carrying the sentiment of thanking Bungie for putting up with all of us. (even though that is a 2-way street) This is what I was worried about, some crap award that makes Bungie think they're doing nothing wrong. dmg said this, sift through what you think is BS
Hey all, There are so many at Bungie who pour their heart into this game, for you. We have the privilege on the community team to speak directly to you about their kickass work to continuously support this game and community. Our transparency and ability to tackle bugs, while continuing to add new activities, QOL changes, and updates is thanks to their hard work. The Operations Center and Player Support teams work around the clock to keep you up to speed on the status of the game, from connectivity to known issues. Producers, testers, designers, engineers, directors, artists... you name it. We’re all here for the continued success of this game, and to build something that continues to give this community a home. This win is for all of us. Thank you, truly, for being one of the best communities out there. <3
Last TWAB said this Added Season of Dawn Armor Mod Sockets Vanguard, Crucible, Gambit, and Iron Banner armor sets will drop with this season's armor mod socket, allowing them to use the new Dawn Armor Mods. They did communicate this. You didn't read that part. It's okay man, it happens. Now, should that mean that all previous versions of vanguard, crucible, Gambit, iron banner should update? I'd hope they do. Those armors are grinded for. I have 3 sets of IB armor that I'd like to use. If they dont then express concern. Now what about the other armor? Well they met us in the middle here as those don't use dawn mods. Suggest that they get updated to use them.

                  • Why? They communicate when trying to sell you something. This is why we had that 3 part spew from Luke smith before shadowkeep, to sell you something. They’re not too interested in selling anything at the minute so communication from bungie will be minimal. Even with 5 community managers you’ll barely see replies

                      • Come on look at Game Awards , they even received a reward , clearly by ignoring their own forums and not responding to any valid criticism you can win an award like this :) Best Community Support Apex Legends Destiny 2 Final Fantasy XIV Fortnite Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege Clearly they are doing their job well on this shitty gamer world. We gamers deserve even further because there are still fanatics whom support and defend bad business practise's of big corporations fanatically. Look at Destiny reddit , it is very similar to fanatic religious forums. Only subject is different...

                        • Its a garbage system period. Enhancement cores have no place in upgrading “temporary” armour. They should’ve made it so the season drops “temporary” mats specific to the seasonal armour.

They didn’t fail. Their plan is to not communicate. They don’t want to be held to what they say so saying nothing is best. They will never come out and say that Bungie made 300 million in micro transactions and that none of that is being put back in the game.
