Hey guys & gals
I wanted to stop in and say hi. I am recovering slowly from the surgery & the pain has been a brutal test of my sanity (I know, what sanity, lol).
I have 3 months of passive motion therapy, which means I can't move the arm with its own muscles, so I have to move it with my body to keep the joint from freezing up and to prevent as much scar tissue from building up as possible. It makes me wish I was not allergic to pain meds, lol.
CoolHandLuke has been trying to keep my mind occupied and I am thankful for that. I am also thankful for all of you who have sent me PM's asking after my health, etc.
My actual, real physical therapy starts right after Thanksgiving and boy oh boy, is that going to be a new level of hell, lol.
I am thinking about going to Houston next month to see the restored Big Boy steam locomotive. Depends on how I am feeling though, as I get worn out very quickly. Also, I gained a lot of new white hairs in my beard! My wife said that it freaked her out when I came out of surgery, she said I looked like I had aged 10 years.
Also, I have lost 25lbs!! I lost the weight and it is staying off, even with my restricted amounts of movement. My "job" is to sit here and do nothing, until it is time for passive physical therapy again, then I sit down and feel the chilling embrace of my ice water circulation machine (I named it Nil and we talk alot. Ok, I talk and it just emits a low level white noise hum).
I miss you all, well most of you, since I think there are new faces around here or maybe I just do not recognize the spookified names. I hope you all have a great Halloween and remember to stop by the Temple of Bernthal & the One True Holy Cookie for the best damn cookies ever made, The Molasses Cookie! I do not know if I will be making any replies, even this much texting has left my arm in a lot of pain, but I will try to when I feel up to it. Take care you looney bunch of psychos and HoTh, can you please stop giving chaffies in that corner? It is highly distracting!
Edit: Of course I will be replying, I am an idjit who loves pain, apparently.
