Adhesive plasma grenade residue... jk Bungie keeps them on the Spartan's backs. They made the game. They have control over Spartans. It makes sense.

If you have a strong enough magnetic field, you can apply it to any object, even water. (But water is a polar molecule, so that helps a little). I assume that in the future they have the capability to create complex electrical fields (jackal shields), and as a result of the direct relationship between electrical and magnetic fields, they can use the high powered generator-source of their power armor (Spartans and Elites) as a source for an oscillating electromagnetic system that can somehow create a very highly charged field in a small area. I suppose they would use some type of magnetic pad inherent on human weaponry to ease use, whereas the covenant could simply posses forerunner coat hanger technology and adapt it to their forerunner mineral mining plasma rifles. The Covie's do not understand their technology, which is why they worship the forerunners and their rings.

i think it may be magnets too. i'd think this for 2 reasons. 1)there are no visible attachments, and it seems to work with all weapons, covenant, human, as well as forerunner. 2) I know for a fact that the reticule actually does chande in a spartan's helmet, and it will change according to the weapon being held because a spartan's suit makes an electrical connection with the weapon and recieves information. this can be done with magnets as a way of a quick-disconnection/wireless feed If you are wondering where i got this information, it is stated in the novel Halo: The Flood.

thanks!
Posted by: Monkeybarsixx
Posted by: Methew Magnets.
where did you find that out?
It makes the most sense.

Invisible Magic. Cookie for reference.
-
Well have you seen the Legendary statue. Every Spartan has a stick that comes out of their back where a gun can be attached.
-
its a -blam!- ing video game. How does magical white energy come out of the handle of the energy sword? How can you mysteriously spawn objects in a mode called forge? How do spartans amazingly regenerate health and shields? How can spartans choose "loadouts" that determine what you spawn with before going into battles? ONCE AGAIN, it is a sci-fi video game.
-
Magic. But yeah, no, there are magnets in the suit.

All MJOLNIR armor is equipped with magnetic strips for weapon/equipment holding. "It has numerous clips, belts, and magnetic holsters for the attachment of additional weapons and ammunition." Halopedia Article

alot of games have floating weapons on backs oblivion fable 2, tomb raiders.

Duck Tape does everything. Thus...

Spartans may use -blam!- magnets when how they work is unkown, but how do Elites and brutes put weapons on their back? And Some covy weapons don't look metal to me. [Edited on 10.05.2010 5:22 PM PDT]
Posted by: Shadow Knives There was an interview with someone from bungie in Gameinformer and they talk about the armor and what not. they said it is a type of magnet but its fingerprint magnets so that the spartan can decide what they want to stick on them.
do you have a link to it? can you find one?
-
Probably is magnets but I just recall seeing a scene where it looks like they hook them on, somehow.
-
Maybe something that clicks into the gun and holds it in place? I don't know... Magents wouldn't work, they'd have trouble getting out of vehicles...
-
grunt blood its surprisingly sticky
