Pfhoraphobia

Soo... does anyone know how to get out of the level Pfhoraphobia in the first Marathon? You know, the one where you kill the cyborg to free the S'ph't. I've explored every nook and cranny, but whenever I stand in front of the window nothing happens. Anyone know what to do? P.S. I'd like a response quick, because this level has no save point and it's hard.

 •
Posted by: Recon Number 54 To trigger the teleport, you will have had to have walked over certain map polygons. Using the players mapping feature to see where you have been is helpful, but only to a point. The map will display not only where the player has been, but (to a point) expand the map out to what he has seen. So it could "appear" that a particular corner of the map was explored and walked over, but it was only seen from a nearby location.
Thanks for the insight Recon, next time I play through Marathon I'll have to remember that. No wonder it's so hard to get out of that level.

 • Lots of very good an accurate advice here. If I may add an additional "perspective" (not really new facts, but rather another point of view). To trigger the teleport, you will have had to have walked over certain map polygons. Using the players mapping feature to see where you have been is helpful, but only to a point. The map will display not only where the player has been, but (to a point) expand the map out to what he has seen. So it could "appear" that a particular corner of the map was explored and walked over, but it was only seen from a nearby location. If you want to get Durandal to teleport you, you have to have hit those map sections. It sounds lame, but it should work.

 • I remember that level, and I also remember having a hell of a time getting out of it just like you are. I'm pretty sure I just killed every moving thing I saw and kept on running around, and I eventually got it.

 • It's the one with the Proph - I mean, the S'pht leader thing. Yeah, you kill him and just run around EVERYWHERE. I believe the room you have to exit from has lots of S'pht in it. Big room. Lots of fighting when you first walk in. Or that might be a different level. -TGP-

 •
Posted by: prospartan7 There's no hunters in that level. It's the one where you look down on the large room with the cyborg alien you have to kill, and there's about a hundred aliens down there too.
Oh that one ... are you stuck where you go down the hall and 2 doors pop open behind you unleasing a ton of pfhor?

 • Try studying the map here. Of course, as with most if not all the levels on the Pfhor ship in Marathon 1, the only way to exit is by finding the right window after sufficiently exploring the entire level. If you can't teleport out, keep exploring the level and coming back to the window if you find anything new. If I remember correctly, that level has a few secrets that have enemies in them. It may be necessary to find those secrets and kill those Pfhor before Durandal allows you to leave.

 • There is a room somewhere that has a window, with a hole in the floor in front of it. (The hole looks like its the result of some kind of damage to the floor) You can drop down this hole, and if you have done this already: The elevator at the other side of the room. Even after you go up it, try jumping off and looking to your right, there is a little hidden nook with an invincibility thingy in it.
