Which faction did you join in Fallout 4? (Warning: May contain spoilers)

The Brotherhood of Steel

The Railroad

5

The Institute

I can’t/couldn’t decide

I chose the Brotherhood. Figured they had the best chance, with the least human casualties. What about the rest of you? Discuss:

Minutemen. With my character they can aim to help the most people, including non-ferals and synths and the occasional non aggressive super mutant. Whereas the BoS would not help those groups or would actively attempt to exterminate them which I am not ok with, and the Institute is too dumb to realize what it is they’ve created which makes them slavers, which I am also not ok with. The Railroad needs to stay underground so they can actually help escaped synths though with the Institute gone I don’t suspect they will be needed nearly as much, if at all. I don’t mind still helping them through the Minutemen either way.

    • First I went with the brotherhood because they're bamf's. Then the railroad cos I sort of relate to it more. Minutemen is good if you want to keep the former 2 alive as well.

I chose the Brotherhood for my first play through and then the Railroad for my second. I found the Railroad quest line to be more fun.

I first went Minutemen, then Brotherhood. I never really liked the Railroad because they seem like a bunch of hypocrites sometimes when it comes to what rights a Synth should have, and the Institute because while their intentions seemed good on paper, their methods were a bit questionable. But I genuinely felt bad during all of my play-throughs, because I hated just wiping an entire faction from the map. During my Minutemen play-through, I loved that I could remain friends with the Railroad and Brotherhood, but didn't want to destroy the Institute. They had so much potential for technology that could have made the world a much better place, but it was controlled by a few bad eggs. And there were some very kind and caring scientists and staff in their facility as well, so it felt a bit wrong it destroy their entire lives because their bosses were shitbags. I felt the same way during my Brotherhood play-through not only about the Institute, but the Railroad as well. Sure, they have their fair share of radicals, but they had a pure and good intentions the entire time. And to just wipe them out for an out-there belief system of Robots and ghouls having rights just like humans seemed questionable.

        • The Minutemen, until I more or less forgot about them. I did a bunch of helping settlements and stuff, but it got boring. So I started helping the Railroad. The I eventually came across the Brotherhood of Steel, and that became my primary focus the rest of the game. I murdered the Railroad after that, and then the Institute. None of it seemed to matter though. I didn't lose anything by destroying the Railroad, so it wasn't really a difficult decision.

        • Originally, Railroad. But every time I got on the Vertibird to fly to the Prydwen my game crashed (still does, actually) so I started a new save and went Minutemen. Figured they're the most neutral and had the least dickheaddery in the commonwealth.

        • I joined the institute for my first play through - railroad for the second. But I can’t say I particularly cared about any of the factions in that game. The main story was pretty weak. I just played it for the exploration and the side quests.
