I don't know how everyone else feels but I am not interested in another pointless grind for light level.
Everyone will be blowing all their resources and time to pointlessly raise their level back up to max just so they can use the same stuff they all ways have.
Get ready to bear crap armor and weapons for the next 3 weeks.

Edited by Alastor the radio demon: 2/21/2019 11:27:06 AMYou mean in a looter shooter we have to grind for better/higher level stuff after every expansion *gasps an unholy amount of air*
-
I don't really understand what you want. There has to be progression....
-
There is no pleasing you. Complaining that players will increase current stuff to max not using anything new. And then, complaining that you will be running mismatched crap over the next few weeks. You must be a democrat.

Edited by name: 2/19/2019 8:12:13 AMi quit at 535 shortly after completing the forsaken story, the grind was tedious and boring, saved myself alot of discomfort by simply deleting the game at that level, i just wasted money on annual pass in the process but hey my time is much more precious to spend with something like a destiny light level grind the irony the vanilla d2 as bad it was at least had the level progression and infusion better, after forsaken the game is in a even worse state, mostly due to horrible reward rates and the cursed infusion cores
-
It's actually power level now, not light level. That's why have the -blam!- trickle modifier on our supers.
-
The only issue I have had with levelling is enhancement cores. At 620 I hoarded my powerful drops above 640 so that I could eventually infuse, however I still saved up very few. There are tedious methods to it. Waiting for spider to sell the stuff from Mercury so I can give it to Vance.
-
I hate the light level grind too. MAYBE it wouldn't be AS bad if all powerful drops were guaranteed to fill in a lower slot even if it only raised a slot by 1 and Prime Engrams were guaranteed to fill in your lowest slot. At least your time would be respected instead of getting 3-4 drops that do NOTHING to help progression. This doesn't mean you would have "amazing" gear, it just means you can participate in end-game content without getting 1-shot be a red-bar. Progression is sooo painful in this game now between light level and infusion. Bungie said they wanted to focus on Destiny being a hobby, but instead they turned it into a job. I used to give all 3 of my characters close to equal playing time, but not anymore. Its a shame really as I did like playing all 3.
-
So true...
-
There are some people out there that like it, they say it gives them something to work towards. I already have something I do over and over to work towards, it's called a job. This empty run to 700 is crap and a terrible way to increase play time. It's bad enough people are still going looking for a stinking ghost/sparrow/ship after 30 weeks. If Bungie's long-term scheme is to add a smidge of new content and drag it out for an absurd amount of time with RNG, including RNG in leveling itself, they aren't going to succeed for much longer.
-
Unless they drop a new dungeon in the next season, I can’t see me playing D2 at all. Will spend my play time bouncing between Anthem and Division 2.
-
I’ve never liked the ‘Light Level’ system. Words can not express how much I hate having my progression tied to RNG. Granted, things are better than the Destiny 1 days thanks to the ‘director’. At least now, we know which activities will reward powerful Engrams, and which ones will reward Prime Engrams, but because of the way each activities rewards are tiered, we also know which activities aren’t worth doing since they don’t reward squat. This in itself is a separate issue, the way Bungie makes most of the content in Destiny/ Destiny 2 obsolete by making sure these activities aren’t worth the time/effort investment. Back to my issues ‘RNG’ progression, I for one don’t enjoy doing a Heroic Strike and getting a 595 Warlock Bond that does nothing to increase my Light Level ( because what I have on is already 594 ), then completing 3 Heroic Strikes, getting another Warlock Bond at 595, and the completing Ikora’s 20 bounty crap, and then getting another Warlock Bond that’s either 595 or 596, and finding that my overall Light Level hasn’t changed at all because; (1.) I keep getting Bonds when I really need anew Helmet, some new boots, a new Primary, and a new Power Weapon. (2) the increase in Light Level is marginal at best. The worse thing about the ‘Light Level’ system is how superfluous it all is. The only thing ‘Light Level’ does is gate which content you can access. You under leveled, you get curb stomped by enemies, meanwhile, a lv. 1 Dreg can kick my Lv.50 ( 604 Light lv. ) Warlock ass just as quickly as he could have back when I was lv.1 at the start of Destiny 2 campaign.
-
I got all 3 to 650. Then I looked at the roadmap and saw 700 with the next season. I don’t remember how long it’s been 6-7 weeks (since they were trying to solve the stupid puzzle for the 4th forge) since I have played Destiny. I can honestly say I haven’t missed it. There’s no reason to grind another 50 power and wait for the last part of the annual pass and do it all over again. I highly recommend walking away from the game. It feels great.

Just coming back for thorn and rose. Everything else is same old boring shit we've doing.
-
The thing is unfortunately I'll be doing the same milestones that I did until now to level up. And maybe a couple of new ones (same like with BA). I leveled up a hunter this week and got him to 640 just from playing around in the campaign and doing gambit milestones. So now I have two characters that will need leveled up to 700. That's twice the milestones to do so. Really I don't know how people that have three do it. How many hours do you have to spend doing the same stuff every week? I won't be bothered to grind for LL for sure. What I'll do is I'll play what I want (mostly Gambit these days) and just level up from there at a slower pace (milestones/prime engrams). Im not doing 5xCrucible matches or 3xHeroic Story Missions that's for certain. I'll probably be doing the DC ones for a chance at enhanced drops though.

Made a post similar to this...but didn't get any traction...good to know others find it to be pointless. If there isn't a raid/lair or major story content being released...power level should stay as is. I would prefer no increase at all for a good while but RNG, shallow loot pool, and infusion economy are major reasons why I've stepped away. 0 desire to play

Yeah I really wish they’d do away with the multiple light level increases during the year. I’d much rather have one big increase with the large expansions and leave it at that. And being 650 literally doesn’t help me more than being 600 unless I’m doing Black Armory content. It’s a very needless aspect of this game and only dissuades the casual player from picking up this game again.
-
I've got cores for days seeing I have nothing to use them on.
-
It’s strange that in nearly every other game like this the community would be saying “raise the level cap, when will they raise the level cap??” In destiny however it’s the opposite “oh god, how tedious, another level cap raise” I’m with you, it’s pretty pointless, you don’t get anything from it, just a higher number, add in the cost of infusion cores and you’re stuck with the same gear you’ve had forever otherwise you have to start masterworking new gear which mixed with the infusion cost simply becomes too expensive. I won’t be bothering.
-
You will pursue the grindfest as it must be the only hobby in your life. Our design team psychologists are highly paid to make sure your addiction to grinding is intact. You will not complain and will enjoy the fact that despite the higher light level you achieve, a simple dreg will still kick you ass. You will accept and enjoy our truths, whether you like it or not. Hugs ~Bungie

It’s pretty pointless and tedious to be honest. Not implemented well at all. There should be large worlds with areas where you go holy shit i gotta get out of here and come back when im a higher level. In crucible it absolutely needs to matter, these crucible scrubs need to get out into pve to earn their levels in order to not take as much damage in pvp
-
Ain’t gonna bother progressing another level grind...
-
It wouldnt be a big of a problem if there werent THOSE STUPID MASTERWORK CORES to infuse!
-
I’m so interested in the job of leveling up another 50 useless levels that, after over 5000 hours playing destiny games, i wont be doing it.
-
Get ready to bear crap armor and weapons for the next 3 weeks.
You doing it wrong. You infuse every upgrade you get wherever possible and then you come onto the forums to complain when you run out of cores after 3 days.
-
If they gave new avenues and not the same old things we've been grinding for what feels like forever now, I would be fine with it. But I doubt that's going to happen.
