i don't touch competitive because i'd mainly solo but honestly, you're wrong here. Would you go play pickup soccer/basketball/hockey with some randoms on the street but say "you cant talk to each other?" make a fireteam or suffer in silence.

 • I appreciate you're curiosity. I was very much a hardcore player in D1 and I did EVERYTHING available. But the fact of the matter is, not every piece of content is going to be for everyone. Going flawless in trials was not intended for everyone. Even in D1 people wanted flawless players to get moved into a different pool so non-flawless players would have an easier time getting to the lighthouse. This was an issue because people wanted the competitive aspect. It felt like your achievement mattered and honestly the first time I went flawless it felt fantastic because I knew the people I was facing had done it before (they had the emblems). Honestly - if it removed the other potential already flawless players to run - it just felt like quickplay. So since D2, my lifestyle has changed vs d1 and while I still sink a lot of hours into the game there's still activities I selectively take part in and those I don't. Competitive, I did in Y1 of D2 - if you didn't go in with a team it was not enjoyable and you'd usually end up losing. It makes sense. I know the game is a PvE centric game, but even I understand that once you've done everything, and learned all the AI's patterns (in any game) the last real challenge is PvP. Just as PvE'ers don't like crucible or having to go in for a quest, the same could said about PvPer's not wanting to go into PvE (flashbacks to PvPers not complaining about doing the VoG to get the Vex). So here I am in Y2, a lot of my clan is taking breaks as we've been somewhat burned out. So rather than punch thru competitive solo - I am passing (for now). Yes I can find a fireteam, but, I like playing with friends - so I'm actively choosing not to. Just as people who want to get something like Luna's and NF - and don't use the fire team finder tools - they are actively choosing to not make their lives easier. So I simply have no pity for them saying that going in solo is too hard, or not fair because you go against 4 stacks. At the end of the day, players, from what I see - are going into competitive for 2 reasons - 1) they want the challenge 2) they want the pinnacle weapons. As you play, and as others play - the skill gap increases. It's a mode that forces you to get better. What aides in that, is communication. In any sport or game, being able to communicate with your teammate is essential - no one can read minds, no one can see what you see. Should there be an actual ranking system; sure - should you separate the queues just so you can't have a tactical/communication based advantage over your opponents - no. Luna's and NF are great weapons, we know this. They are being more prevalent because as time goes on more people are acquiring them and of course are bringing them into quickplay. They are also driving the player skill level up. But that's fine, they earned it. If you finally earned enough money to buy a sportscar, are you not supposed to bring it on the road with everyone else driving beaters? The game gives you options, we have fireteam chat in game, you have party chat on your console, and although dumb that its not actually in the game - we have fireteam finder on different platforms and bungie's main site. If you choose not to use tools at your disposal, I don't think you have the right to complain. That is my very long winded answer to your simple question.

 • Well I appreciate you not taking my post as angry lol it wasnt meant to be. I see what you're saying I do but I feel that to have a truly competitive mode as it's called it is in need of a better matchmaking system (and more players) and it needs to try and get rid of the unbalance this game so easily provides. Teams vs solos is a big one, not sure how I feel about heavy and supers in comp (at their current rates/manipulations) but I do feel like they're a great part of destiny in general. Exotics in general need to be exciting 100% they're exotics ffs but certain ones that are only obtainable on certain characters and based of rng that most certainly improve a players "skill" through an unskillful way (not saying I want them banned or anything else but you add that on top of the already unbalanced playlist and you can see how quickly small advantages add up especially in a solo vs team scenario) not too mention titan skating on PC which they have acknowledged as well as said tough shit we dont know how to fix it. In Competitive rn anyways it is very much about getting zone control on top of kills and with all this added together it makes for a terribly unbalanced system. I dont want nerfs or bans as far as in game things go but too me a solo playlist would lessen that blow for players that cant have a team ready to sweat and grind through comp 24/7. On top of all that we need a higher player count in comp for better matchmaking and queue times and there is only 1 way to do that - you have to make people want to be there.

 • I get where you're coming from. I just don't think splitting the queues is the best option. To be honest, my idea for competitive - to be the best of the best. The gamemode should actually be more halo style. In that I mean, have everyone using the same set of weapons. IE. white weapons. In a truly competitive scene, it would actually show who is the better player as everyone is on a level field. Now, what they could add to that would be when things like heavy bricks drop - or "kill/point streaks" happen - a player can (from an already set load out) pull out an actual weapon from their inventory. That would allow the game to be dynamic yet more balanced. It's one thing to go in a match against a 4 stack with LH or NF against a noob team - its another to go against a team using all white equal weapons. Player skill would be the driving factor. Then should a player perform or outperform, they get rewarded with using their earned better weapon for a set period of time. This is just my idea; i think there are many possible solutions, it's just a matter of what works best. Unfortunately - we aren't the dev's so it ultimately isn't up to us. But once again, I don't think limiting communication or teams vs solos is an appropriate answer to better gameplay.

 • This sounds like another good idea they could build off of and yeah we aren't dev's lol. As far as Bungies communication goes it's worse then a bunch of blueberries with no mics. If they're planning or developing something they need to let us know so we can stop clogging up the forums.
