Bungie I am a 50 year old vet with PTSD. I play your game close to 30 hours per week because it helps me deal with the PTSD by keeping my mind occupied and keeping my stress levels down. I don't complain about RNG because it is what it is. But, I do have issues with all the best gear being behind the Raids and PVP. Being older will not allow me to keep up with the skill it takes to beat the younger players in PVP and because my reflexes are slower I cannot keep up with them in the raid without them getting upset and kicking me for not getting the mechanics down fast enough. Please make weapons that will keep up with your raid and PVP weapons available though challenging tasks that I can do alone or with other less skilled / older players. I have almost all the weapons that doesn't take PVP or raid (Breakneck/Malfeasance/Nightshade/Forge Weapons/Whisper/Etc) but its depressing to spend a lot of time and money on a game I love to play knowing I will never have a shot at getting the premier weapons. As a 22 year military veteran I really hope you respond to me with an explanation. Thank you for you time.

2 RepliesHello, xxSRxx71. I'm not sure I qualify to become a member of "Sergeant's Peppers lonely hearts club band", so to speak, as I'm decade and some younger than you are, besides, I'm not career military, yet I served my term there, concussion followed me home, so I had to keep it, but I was terrible in shooter even before that.:) I don't want to hijack your thread with my complains over whether am I that terrible in shooters or Destiny 2 has questionable performance on my rig, so I think of three solutions Bungie could implement, no matter how bad their dev-tools are. I think they do collect not just our bio data (such as age), but telemetry data on our performance while in game. So it should be quite easy for them to matchmake older/slower people like us with other older/slower people. It's not that difficult, game seems to be rather popular, so there should be no problem to find at least someone suitable, so we could play at our own, slower pace. After all, we play games to have fun and be entertained, and what entertainment there is when you're everybody favourite pin cushion? (Says guy who voluntarily get in hockey net:)). I don't miss that side of my drill sergeant, you know. Second thing that I really want to vent - they do need firing/testing range, where every player should be able to freely test any gun against any foe before starting quest for it. For example, "on paper" (well, digital one:)), Breakneck/Hazard of the Cast do look interesting for my playstyle. But are they really that fitting for me? Currently I'm struggling through Gambit and force other people to tolerate my terrible performance without even knowing is it worth it or not. In my very first post in these boards I mentioned ArmA series, and they do allow you to naturally test everything there is. Why such thing is not implemented here is beyond my understanding. Maybe those guns are not even worth it, because I don't plan to play Gambit after I got any of them, as "I don't wanna spoil the party, so I'll go". Or take Cayde's gun. Do I want to have it? Sure, for memorial value, I like that guy, regardless who voiced him, but can I get it? Nope. Again, I'd like to apologize in front of all my involuntarily team-mates in Gambit, but I have 25-35 FPS in 720p on Low/Off with 60°FOV, which is sickening for me, though generally I don't have motion sickness under normal conditions. And even if I somehow will be able to chug through many matches to earn enough notches to complete one of stages, according to Internet guides, later I have to somehow achieve 25 Precision kills in Crucible, which I'll never be able to do, unless opponents allow me to do that our of misery. And there is a li-i-ittle problem for me. Not sure if cognitive, but surely a dissonance. I'm somewhat completionist, and I like to explore the vast majority of game whenever I can. But I also don't like PvP. Like at all. Co-op - sure, fine, but not PvP. I just don't get it. Even if I played hockey so it was us against them, I still don't get it. By the way, many thanks for that hockey emote, hit the spot. :) But I digress. Third solution for this situation, at least as I see it for some guns (I have no idea about raid guns, I speak only about Cayde's revolver), replace PvP for people like me with PvE, but at higher numbers. Kill 500 enemies with Precision hits? Sure, can do. Will do - after all, it's Cayde. But I'll do that at my own pace, without interfering with other people's lives, and spoiling all fun for them, regardless whether am I that terrible, or it's just the game's performance. Or lack thereof. Sorry for another wall of text, thank you all who read this for your time, and I wish you all to have fun and let others to have it.

1 ReplyYou should check out destiny sherpas on reddit. Usually the folks over there are pretty cool about getting people through raids.
-
Loaded question is very good. I use it over luna's howl in most activities. And the raid weapons are bad.
-
10 RepliesYou mean the best stuff is hardest to get? Insane INSANE.

Video games give rewards, not handouts.
-
Well, yeah, of course the best weapons are gonna be in the raid or through a competitive quest. Sucks but, that’s how it should be and they shouldn’t change it just because a few select people cant get them.

5 RepliesI agree. I am also an older player (50 as well) I haven't completed one raid in D2 mainly because my friends don't play Destiny anymore. I also work full time so it's hard to fit in a 2 to 4 hour raid anytime. Most of the time when I do join it is only after most have been trying to get it done for hours and someone has quit. Well that is usually the trigger. One quits then another, and before you know it there aren't enough people left to finish the raid, so I just stopped trying. I have also tried to join several clans but for some reason I am not able to. I am an adult player and never quit a raid once I start, unless everyone else does. I'm a day one Destiny 1 player and have well over 2000 hours in that game and probably close to 750 to 1000 in this game. It's a shame that some of us are unable to do the raid because we work or don't have enough time to do so.

5 RepliesI'm 48, been playing for about a month and feel the same. I'm quite aware that I suck, but I'm slowly getting better. Done a few raids where the other players talk to me like I'm a moron because I'm not getting all the instructions first time. It's kinda funny as I have a degree in mathematics, an IQ in the mid 140s, and more life experience than the rest of the raid group combined. I'm not stupid, I'm just old and new to the game. My pet hate is PvP in this game. I keep getting stuck in games with teams of opposition that are uber-geared and uber-skilled. I get one-shot by everyone, but it seems I have to hit them 3 or 4 times just to get through their shields. I'm not getting better because I don't have a chance to. But there's so much of the gear upgrades stuck behind crucible or gambit. Nearly all the clan bounties are one or the other for example. I call them my "Ritual Humiliation Dailies". I'm not sure what Bungie can do for us though mate. Raids SHOULD have higher rewards because the content is harder. If they nerf the game to cater to us, they piss off the majority of players who like it like this. I'd really like better matching for PvP, but it takes so long already sometimes to get into a match. Extra matching criteria would undoubtedly make the wait times longer and that's no fun for anyone. I think we have to just put it down to "getting old sucks sometimes" and leave it at that.

2 RepliesThe only thing I will say against what you're asking for is: whats the reason to get premier weapons? For me, it's to show them off in crucible and raids etc. You don't need Luna's Howl for a bit of patrolling.

If u need a clan we have a few spots open in ours. We have quite a few older people in the clan, in their 30s and 40s, so ud fit in. I would never kick u from a raid but can't promise I wont yell at u or give u shit for messing up multiple times just like I'd expect the same treatment. If u can handle that message me n I'll get u set up.

Join a clan. Thats what i did. I haven’t done the raid yet either though. You can also try destiny sherpa on the destiny reddit. If you need help with stuff like pvp i would be willing to help. Im not great in pvp though. We have a few pvp and raiders in our clan.

1 ReplyFirst off let me be the first to personally thank you for your services. It takes a brave individual with a strong will to overcome the things you’ve endured. With that, you’ve played part in securing the future for many of the youngsters who play destiny, & many others within different age demographics. I’m 26 and what you’ve done has certainly made my life much greater. Now unto destiny: It does come down to the clan you’re in. Doing things solo can be punishing at times, & I wish bungie could develop a system to match players such as yourself with higher endgame focused players to help you through the PvE content. Guided games was suppose to be exactly that, but it fell short in some areas. I think with the right tuning, it could be exactly what you’re looking for. For now, just do what you can. Try the LFG category of this site/app and get some high end players you enjoy spending time with. I hope this helps

Find a calm team there are loads of dudes out there your age that can help you. If your Xbox player, I have super chill friends willing to help.

Can add pay walls to the list.

2 RepliesIt's always has been the best gear is behind the raid or pvp.

2 RepliesIf you catch yourself a good clan generally they will help you through the raid and in pvp, the clan I was in on ps4 before quitting would help carry people through trials of the nine and the raid. With that being said if you’re not in a clan and happen to be on xb1 feel free to join mine, we don’t have much to offer but we all enjoy taking things slow during raids and what not and would be more than happy to have ya join us.
